Sadly on 22nd of June 2016, on 16th Ramadan, Amjad Fareed Sabri was targeted by some target killers and was shot in Liaquatabad,Karachi and died at the spot.According to news,He was shot in head and throat and died before reaching hospital.There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Hailing from a long line of legendary qawwals, Amjad Sabri inherited the art and charm Qawwali from his father Ghlam Farid Sabri - a qawwali extraordinaire and maestro himself. A man with international fame, he had a voice rich with the emotion of a faithful devotee. Born on December 23, 1970, he started to learn qawwali at the tender age of nine years from the best teacher under the sun, his own father. A musical prodigy, he joined his father on stage to perform at the age of 12 years and people fell in love with him. That was back in 1988, and since then, he was one of the most acclaimed qawwals in the subcontinent, having performed across the world.

Imran Khan tweeted: "Shocked at the murder of famous qawwal Amjad Sabri & his companions in Karachi. A complete failure of law & order & writ of the govt." Dr. Tahir Qadri said: "I strongly condemn terrorist attack on Amjad Sabri. My heart goes out to the bereaved family." Fakhar-e-Alam said: "We played cricket together last Friday,he was always smiling a kind and gentle soul. I can't believe Amjad Sabri has been taken away from us". He also said that Amjad Sabri had submitted an application for protection as per his family but Home department did Nothing. News anchor Sana Bucha tweeted: "Deeply saddened by the gruesome murder of #AmjadSabri He was a great human being. U will be greatly missed Amjad Sb!"
