This is a beautiful piece of music. Hauntingly beautiful voice of Nayyara Noor singing the heart of Faiz Ahmad Faiz. Any great Urdu to English translation--not necessarily verbatim but capturing the spirit for the most part.
Thanks in advance!

[I am taking a stab at it--with my dwindling skills in Urdu but the timing matches the sunset, especially with the time change here in eastern USA as of today).

This edge of the sunshine
When it's evening
When two times meet
When it's neither day or night
When it's neither today or tomorrow
For a while it (the experience) is immortal
For a while it (the experience) is like a vapor

This edge of the sunshine
When it's evening
When two times meet

Around this edge of the sunshine
The lips move
The arms sing
This meeting of us
This meeting of us

For a while it (the experience) is immortal
For a while it (the experience) is like a vapor

This meeting of us
This meeting of us
True or lie?

When in your ocean-deep eyes
This evening's sun will set in
The settled people will find sleep then
But the traveler will find a way away,
but the traveler find find a way away.

For a while it (the experience) is immortal
For a while it (the experience) is like a vapor

This edge of the sunshine
This edge of the sunshine
When it's evening

Very beautiful ghazal. I guess it was from dhoop kinray drama. I have very fond memories of it. Of returning from school and while eating food still in our uniforms we use to watch it with our grand father on its re rruns on ptv. They rerun it like every 4 or 6 months.
I don't know why I find these kind of faiz ghazals very umm mystical or otherworldly. The music specially in faiz ghazals such as this, 'dasht e tanhai', 'hum dekhain gay' , 'mujhe se phali se muhabbat' etc and other songs of the time like 'khabhi hum khubsorrat tha' was old fashioned now but very unique in some way.

The words and music transport you to a realm of nostalgia. It talks of roses, oceans, gardens, stars, sun rise, sun set, dew, sky, saman(flowers) , spring, pearls, magic, flowers, a person desire to meet his loved one, for eternal union... Even I, illterate in poetry can feel something from the poetry of faiz which was missing from the others. Not to discredit other ofcourse. There are many many great poets there. But I find faiz way of poetry most different and mystical. Faiz was either too modern or too different then others. That's why he was faiz.
