Faisal Shahzad is not Pakistani: FM

Updated at: 2232 PST, Sunday, May 09, 2010

KARACHI: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Sunday said Faisal Shahzad, the man involved in failed attack at Times Squre, is not a Pakistani but a naturalised American citizen.

In an interview when asked to comment on reports of recovery of two Pakistani passports from Faisal Shahzad, Qureshi said: “I will have to check. I am not aware of that but I am aware that he is a naturalised American citizen, and the Government of Pakistan will cooperate with the United States and help them in whatever way we can.”

He said Pakistan is serious in its probe into the Mumbai attacks. Hafiz Saeed was arrested but was later set free by the court in the absence of sufficient evidence.

“Pakistan wants cordial relations with India and we will not let any terrorist outfit sabotage the process of dialogue between the two countries,” the FM said.

He said he would invite Indian external minister to visit Pakistan for talks. Back channel diplomacy is of no use without front channel diplomacy, he added.

i heard that he is a son of some pak air force marshal or some else

Hi
well its true according to International law when a person having dual nationality is convicted of a crime then the country in which he has spent most time or enjoys more proximity to is considered as the prime country of nationality during a conviction trial, but i am not certain if he has spent more time is USA or Pakistan

again the question - why disown Faisal and but support Dr.Afia?

Time for spoon feeding, the Time Square scumbag has been arrested for crime against humanity, as for as i recall, Dr Afia was picked up for merely being in Afghanistan.
Post 9/11, many countries including yours have skeletons rattling in their cupboards.

again the question - why disown Faisal but support Dr.Afia?

Had you remained updated you should have known that the intensity of 'ownership' by the GoP in the both the cases has remained similar.

BTW, in case you didnt know Afia was not arrested inside the US.

Lastly, the comparison drawn by yourself between Shahzad and Afia got me thinking of your intellect.

May be you are one of those 'geniuses' who compare Kashmir and Balochistan every now and then!
