When disputes are not resolvable by two parties regarding territory or transnational issues, it is often referred to the UN. If and when one party backs out from their promise and refuses to back down from brutal occupation for seven decades, then an out of the box solution, based on logic, compromise and common sense seems to be the only option to avoid all out war and a nuclear wasteland where the subcontinent used to be. Hence, I propose this most reasonable compromise for resolution of IOK.

As we know, the international border based on the radcliffe award tried to incorporate the logic of continuity as well as consideration for majority population of bordering districts. Though this was politicized in certain cases where the logic wasn't followed like Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Kutch, for the most part rest of the border was done on this basis. This border also roughly approximates the Gurdaspur Kathiawar salient, which separates the Indus basin from ganges watershed. Hence it is a good divider to go by in terms of culture, religion and race, alongside nationality.

In the following maps, the non-straightness of the border is averaged out roughly, almost like a trend line, starting from norhwestern part of rajasthan in thar desert, to Ferozepur. This is the straightest segment of the border near kashmir, which avoids the extreme bulges of kutch and gurdaspur districts. Now if this 'trend line' is continued as it should have been, we realize that the line divides IOK at roughly halfway between hemis national park until chinese border. It also roughly separates the historically muslim majority parts of IOK west of the line from the buddhist/tibetan part to the east of it. With some slight readjustments along the line depending on where ladakhi is predominant as opposed to balti/kashmiri, it will be a just solution.

In case some hindutva starts crying about jammu, read proper history of the region. Jammu city and surrounding villages was overwhelmingly muslim majority before 1947. The dog-ra ruler in collaboration with indian army committed a massacre of muslims of this region of which there are several accounts from respected sources, including european ones. It was no less than a genocide, followed by the prompt shipment of hindus from india by the tyrant and indian authorities to repopulate jammu. Hence, what you see today is artificial slight majority of hindus with over 40 percent muslims and growing. When muslim refugees from jammu are resettled, hindus will have option to live and get along in a muslim majority azad kashmir state, or they can peacefully return back to their original motherland in utter pardesh, bihar or wherever.

I have a better idea, as India claims and wants the World to believe it's a ''civilised'' nation based on democracy, then why not ASK Kashmiris in IOK what they want? It's not so difficult, is it?

.
that sounds pretty good..Pakistan and india once solve this issue then Pakistan may help india and china to solve their border dispute.
its a region which gonna be next europe. we have to solve it for our next generations...

or same option should be given to muslims to return to their motherland i.e middle east from where Islam originated.

As per history of Kashmir, i dont need to repeat as their are many threads on this forum which indicates that Kashmir or rather world exist before Islam with enough proofs...

There is no solution to Kashmir which involve land trade. The best solution as of now is converting LOC to international border and let the matter rest to make this region next europe.

Other wise nothing is gonna happen if Pakistan keep on harping the same old song...

If you really want to settle the matter through land trade, then UN declaration clearly states for Pakistan to hand over it occupied part of Kashmir (including gilgit, baltistan) back to India before any next step is taken.

Ball is in Pakistan court to take the step...

The idea came from your side, not from our side..So please take the privilege of leading by example.

Let's analyse the situation using the actual, dictionary meaning of the words you've so effortlessly used.

1. Logic: Logic dictates that the stronger party dictates or dominates the proceedings of any negotiation and seek more benefits/advntages, unless he/it chooses to waive off his advantage. Please explain why would India, the stronger party in this case, even take part or allow a negotiation where she would be on the losing side.

2. Compromise:(an agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions) It appears the Pakistani definition of compromise is that India will give up territory, strategic advantage without Pakistan making any compromise. Sorry, not going to happen.

It's also well implied that in a negotiation, the weaker party generally accepts more compromise, or at the very most, both sides make equal compromise. So please explain why the evil Baniyas would be the compromising party?

3. Common Sense: So you're telling us that India, which cannot be militarily defeated by Pak, which could absorb 25 years of a major insurgency in Kashmir without any significant loss, which is 10 times the size of Pakistan economically, and which holds the said territory would simply surrender and retreat and hand it over to Pakistan, and that would be common sense for India?

I understand that you believe we are idiots, mentally retarded, but even that wouldn't be enough for us to simply surrender to a weaker nation.

First learn and understand the ground realities before coming up with your "most reasonable compromise". They sound more fiction than fiction itself. India is not going to enter into any negotiation about giving up its held territory. Infact, India isn't going to enter into any negotiation at all until there is something in it for us.

The people at the helm of India are no longer the pre-independence generation. There is no sympathy, no yearning for good relationship with Pakistan. Pakistan and any disputes concerning Pak will be negotiated according to cold logic and ground realities.

What is it ' Stupid ideas week " ?

Apply your skewed logic to the Pak Af border which too remains disputed.

India is comfortable

for that to happen u have to take back the part of J &K gifted to China and remove the forces from Azad Kashmir.
