Among the questions being asked are why coup plotters didn’t execute the most basic steps in seizing power, like securing Erdogan and other top officials.
Coup plotters, were going to start their operation in 03:00 am. They tried to seize general staff early in the night, gunfire broke out, police came immediately but denied access to compound. Police surrounded the compound and coup plotters had to start their operation prematurely. MIT was observing unusual movement within the military, all day long. They immediately warned president and president left the hotel.....after 15 minutes of his departure, coup plotters raided the hotel.
Nor did coup plotters effectively take control of TV, radio and internet outlets. The government TRT station and CNN Turk were for a time occupied by alleged coup plotters, who quickly retreated as the putsch fell apart.
Coup beginning prematurely and most the army didn't joined to coup plotters, they were short on man....considering the wast amount of TV channels...it was very hard for them to secure all TV channels.
Any reasonably organized coup attempt – and Turkey has a significant history of successful military coups over the years - would have made cutting off such communication a top priority, according to both advocates and deniers of the “staged coup” theory.
True, but in the previous coups, coups done by the whole military, not by a small faction. None of the force commanders and general staff joined with the coup plotters.
Coup plotters first tried to take control of the military then take control of the country and they had to do it prematurely.
Coup plotters also failed to secure most airports and other transportation hubs,

didn’t occupy or attack Erdogan’s $600 million presidential palace,
Erdoğan was not in his palace. Although it got bombed (you can search for the footage) and a small number of coup plotters tried to raid the compound whom got killed by the presidential guards.
And failed to intercept his plane before, during or after he flew from one of the country’s busiest and most accessible airports back to Istanbul.
They faked his plane as a commercial plane. (Story is not very clear on this one. I think it would unfold in the upcoming days)
This despite the supposed active participation of top generals in Turkey’s Air Force, which maintains a fleet of F-16 aircraft easily capable of tracking, intercepting or – if it came to it – shooting down Erdogan’s plane.
%90 of the top generals of air force didn't involved in the coup.
CSAR helicopters raided a wedding ceremony of
a high rank general in Istanbul which was attended
by many generals. CSAR commandos kidnapped them.
attacking the mostly empty parliament building in Ankara,
Parliament building was not empty it was full of law-makers, you can search for footage in the YouTube.
occupying Ataturk International Airport but conveniently leaving in time for Erdogan to land his plane there
They didn't left but police and thousands of civilians raided the positions of coup plotters and wrestled back the control of the airport. Again there is lots of footage in the YouTube.

This was the most dangerous thing that Turkey ever faced in it's history by far. Most of you are unaware but the coup had not been made by the Turkish Armed Forces but a faction within the military.
If the coup had been successful......I mean, the top general whom organized the coup were going to appoint himself as the general staff.....wonder who will be the president ? Fethullah Gülen.....and you would be looking to Islamic Republic of Turkey...Sunni version of Iran. So, be careful about what you wish for.
