Banning is not a solution at all FB is nothing compared to the amount of blasphemous content that is available on internet you've to ban the entire internet if you want to stop this you've two options either develop your own tool to block these pages or ignore them it's simple.

Is saying something nasty (real abusive) about Rama, Krishna, Hanuman or other Hindu Gods considered blasphemy in India? If yes, how does India deal with that? Do enlighten us.

May be Pakistan can learn few things from Indians, how they deal with such abuse.

And I think ban is not always the best strategy.

Most of Hindu population doesn't care who is abusing who. They cares much about their job, careers and family.
You can insult easily any Hindu deity in India. You can make the whole moive insulting Hindu deities in India. Nobody mind here except some fb onliners bashing. Ya , there are some Hindu hardliner politician but they cares much about their politics rather than protecting Hinduism in real.

I don't even want to mention those poor girls getting r@pe threats for saying trivial things like "Pakistan is not an enemy".

Or Mosques, Churches being burnt and massacres of minorities taking place sometimes on very small things.

Or Media facing threats of full ban for showing Kashmir as disputed territory.

Or Cinemas getting threats of being burnt or bombed if they ever showed a particular movie.

Do not play that innocent.

What does India do with media or mult-national organization which violates the local laws and keeps breaching them despite several warnings and penalties?

What your media shows is not actual India. There are only one or two incident of beef lynching and this incident condemned by the whole India. India is huge. You will be wrong if you make perception of a country like india on the base of one incident.

If I'm telling you that there is no beef ban in any particular part of india , it means you can have beef steak there without any fear. If there is beef ban then you can't find a beef shop in that particular part on India. Its very simple.
But ya , you can have a beating by some Gourakshaks if you are smuggling cows illegally in some of northern part in India.

Absolutely not! My birthplace deserves to do much better than its present condition. Banning FB to appease the control freak nature of the uberzealots is not way to help it, at all. The real sadness comes from seeing its miseries being self-inflicted on the people just to serve a select few. Such censorship never works, only increases problems for everybody.

Your mistake is thinking that it's only uberzealots who don't like seeing blasphemous material on their Facebook.

2) The matter of hate speech and incitement to violence is sub-judicial as we speak

Now the local law will take its course, whether you like it or not is irrelevant. Just like American courts can pass judgments to penlise media outlets and even ban repeat offenders, so can Pakistan's courts.

My point is that seeing such material on FB is best dealt by not visiting such pages, which is a voluntary decision.

No - people have a right to demand the removal of offensive material on a website. Why do you think Facebook has a report function put in place?

No matter how many times you explain him that FB is not banned in Pakistan right now and the matter of hate speech and incitement to violence is sub-judicial and will be decided according to local laws.

Not even when you tell him that even in Germany they have asked FB to comply with the local law or face very hefty fines or even a full ban if they fail to comply.
