Paf knows that peanuts like 8 f-16 wont count much. Paf also knows that JF-17 can easily replace f-16 but its very important to buy some from US because paf cant afford to loose US so that endia can take advantage. Second our jf-17 techs are very much based on f-16 so we can learn some from it.
USA state department when said it was strategic to sell these which is why they meant to say because they dont want PAF to use this money for any chinese planes or research and development. Its a win win situation for both US and Paf.
USA was not happy with endians because they choose rafale so they want to teach endians a lesson by selling these 8 toys. I guess this may be last f-16 that we are acquiring from USA. Now paf will turn towards russian or Chinese market. Although we should not stop to ask more from US beacuse we cant give leverage to endians to bargain with ease but one thing for sure US will not offer us other planes besides f-16.

Yea while their doing that, you can dress your army up like Babur's and conquer Delhi and fly your flag over the Red Fort and finally have your greater Pakistan. Cause you know, the Mughals were Pakistani, and then you can teach us all Urdu so we can neglect our mother tongues like Punjabi, Bengali and Hindi.
Seriously, you think the PAF will win your wars? The last time PAF actually had an "edge" was in 1965 and that too because India was weak.

Its a fact that IA's artty is the biggest threat to Pak military given the distance from the border. In the past the artty was not as reliable and limited by range and accuracy. However, this is not the case anymore.
Which is exactly why even the PA is looking for long range arty systems, from cheap cruise missiles, to tactical MBRL.
IA has all this in low end to high end. Ontop of this Indian military also keeps around sats to keep track of targets. Mahajan firing range actually has sat overhead that does nothing but monitor the holes in the ground and provides updates every couple of hours.
I'm not saying doing have a airforce, but the mentality is pretty stupid right now. Every nation that is serious about air threats from a offensives air power like the US and IAF would invest in some SAM network systems. Force multipliers like AWACs and EW warfare is not a want but must have technology now. I've seen the PAF adapt. Likely if PAF does purchase F-16's they'll most likely cut down on JF-17s.

The other part of this is doctrine. Pak is poor. NOT India poor but Nigeria poor. Your defence budget is UNsustainable. I remember correctly, Washington pays for a quarter of your defence budget or still does a large number. USSR did the same thing but they indented to fight a WORLD WAR. Does Pakistan still intend to fight India?
Cold war is over, but convincing your army that India doesn't want a war is more difficult.
Be realistic. People in Pak defence sector be it military or civilian are flushed with cash. Why would they let their wallets get lighter?
My advise to you. Sit in on course on political science. When you understand how decisions are made, you'll realise their is conflict of interest within Pakistan.

France hasn't occupied Pakistan's neighbor Afghanistan. The US has. France never had any geostratigic relations with Pakistan. The US did. There is a long history between the US and Pakistan. Whether it has been for the good or bad is a different debate.

There is no comparison between the relation that the US has had with Pakistan as compared to France. Not even in the slightest.

Therefore, managing to influence France not to sell any hardware to Pakistan is no achievement. Influencing the US on the other hand would be a different ball game.

There is a reason why there is so much anger and frustration in Indian quarters. The Indians are under the illusion that they can influence the US Pakistan policy. The Indians somehow think they have built a lot of leverage and influence over the US with regards to Pakistan. Perhaps in certain minor ways you are able to influence the US, but when it comes to major issues you don't have any clout. Even the Americans are clueless and helpless when it comes to defining the relationship with Pakistan. They need Pakistan in every imaginable way whether they like it or not. They know this all too well. The Americans would offer another 100 F-16s and would disappoint India another million times if they have to. Don't be mistaken about that. To the Americans, only their interests matter. They don't love Indians nor Pakistanis. These people only care about their interests and would befriend an enemy and estrange a friend in a blink of an eye.

What protection does it provide against India?
PAF will loose its airfields in the first 15 minutes of war. Those F-16s will be the first to get targeted by missiles.

Remember in desert storm, the Iraqis didn't even get half thier assets to the air.
