NEW DELHI: The Indian extremists’ threats has taken a toll on performing arts now with curtains being drawn on plays to be performed by Pakistani artists just hours before starting.

At least 24 Pakistani nationals from the Ajoka Theatre of Lahore are on their way back. They were at the 15th Theatre Utsav, organised by the National School of Drama, but after some people threatened to disrupt the festival, the government had to cancel their performance.

The artists were disappointed and also suggested that talks were the way forward for solving the LoC crisis. Ironically their show was on Sadat Hasan Manto, a shared heritage for both India and Pakistan.

Even prominent theatre personalities from India weren't too happy with the government's decision. "Artists don't have any boundaries, they shouldn't be banned," said Indian theatre person Nandu Madhava.

The NSD says that the performance was cancelled due to security reasons, but the artists say they should've still been allowed, as their performance would've only helped bridge distances between the two countries.

Especially when the very same irrelevant people are involved in not only killing, but mutilating bodies of our soldiers. I am glad India is finally taking this issue of Pakistani Army's uncivilized behaviour somewhat seriously. We are not doing enough, but steps like this are a good start.

Take them back, any Pakistani in India should be deported. Enough of this Aman ki Tamasha. All ties should be severed after this body mutilation incident.

I'm sure Atif Aslam or Ali Zafar will also face VISA restrictions in near future. And they were invited before the border escalations, and they're not VIPs to deploy SPGs for their protection.
