Expansionist India – by Jonathan Chu, Singapore

I think most have a fundamental misunderstanding of India. Yes I know, India is a democracy and all that. But this is a rather superficial understanding of the country. You might not have heard of India's territorial disputes in the news, but this doesn't mean India does not have them. In fact India (with the possible exception of Bangladesh, since I read that India and Bangladesh have reached an agreement to settle their borders this January) has not settled its borders with any of its neighbours. And worst, India has the dubious distinction of annexing every single of its neighbours land since it was created by the British in 1947. I know this may come as a shock to you, but here are the links you may want to check out:

If you talk to India's neighbors, the words 'bullying', 'hegemonic', 'meddling', 'intrusive'...are probably some of the adjective its neighbors will use to describe India. A recent example is India rejection of Bhutan's plan to build a highway in the southern part of Bhutan. An earlier example is India's creation of the Tamil Tigers which plunged Sri Lanka into many years of civil war. You might not have aware of it, but India has a rather testy relations with almost all of its neighbors.
As to why India is such a misunderstood country, I pondered it for a long time and here are the reason I think may have something to do with it.

1) India was created under British auspices and hence British India relations have a sort of mentor protégé element to it. As such Britain is naturally protective of India and hence tacitly approved or at least tolerate India's aggression. Britain, as one the key member of the West, set the tone of how India should be treated.

2) In the early years after India's creation in 1947, Britain saw India as a kind of proxy that represents Britain's interest in South Asia. As such India's aggression was not viewed to be detrimental to the world's order. In fact not many people know, after 1947 a lot of the British Raj officials stayed and served in the new government especially in the foreign policy department. Hence the expansionary instinct (in order words land grabbing) of the British Raj continues in the new country.

3) The subcontinent was colonized for two hundred years, when it gained independence, there were a lot of goodwill towards India all over the world, not less from Britain itself. The situation is not dissimilar to South Africa. Nehru was basically the Nelson Mandela of his time. India skillfully exploits this sentiment and assume a role of moral superiority in dealing with international affairs. Nehru is famous for his self-righteousness internationally. This makes it hard to criticize India.

4) India is a democracy. The notion that democracies are intrinsically peaceful is seldom challenged. In fact the belief is so strong that whatever India says are usually accepted as fact with no question asked. Take Sikkim as an example, fifteen years before Saddam Hussein annexed Kuwait, India annexed Sikkim. But how do India explain its act? According to India's explanation, 97% of Sikkimese voted to join India, so India just spread its democracy to Sikkim by 'incorporating' Sikkim into the India. I remembered when before the first gulf war when Saddam Hussein said he conducted an election and 99% of Iraqi voted for him, it was immediately dismissed as ridiculous (which it is). But when India says the same thing, it was accepted as fact.

5) Gandhi is a well-known icon of India. And Gandhi's non-violence struggle against the British are well-known. This non-violence stereotype stick and people just assume that India is non-violence against its neighbours also. But of course nothing is further from the truth. Over seventy thousands Kashmiris disappeared without a trace in India occupied Kashmir with many show up in mass graves. A few years ago there was an uprising in Kashmir and in one demonstration Indian troops gunned down hundreds of Kashmiris. But the press seems not to be too bother about it. India gets away with murder, literally.

Proud Dravidian

Don’t forget the Madras Presidency (modern Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh), Kingdom of Travancore (Kerala), or the Kingdom of Mysore (Karnataka). These are all Southern territories stolen, invaded, and illegally annexed by “India”.

This was all done under a man by the name of Sardar Patel, who I think was Home Minister under “India’s” first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Both of these men are North Indians. This includes the despicable Hyderabad Operation Polo.

The “Indian” Government is a Hindian Goverment. Mostly North Indians who speak Hindi. I have no idea WHY they want to steal all these territories, but they have the gall to believe that they are a “part” of “India”! Not only that, they want everyone in “India” to speak their language, which is Hindi.

The Bull Shit excuse is because India was “disunited”, this led to conquests at the hands of the Turko-Afghans and later the British East India Company. My response is: I don’t really give a rat’s ***. That doesn’t give you license to turn around and engage in the same Imperialistic conquests.

“India” unfortunately has nuclear weapons, but their missiles can’t reach the USA. So the USA can still invade and disarm “India”. Unfortunately, I have no idea who built the nuclear reactors in “India” allowing them to enrich uranium to build the bomb. If it was the West, then I thoroughly shake my head. DO NOT BUILD NUCLEAR REACTORS IN THESE COUNTRIES! you need to convince America to stop exporting weapons, tech, and military know how to “India”. “India’s” “rise” comes from Western technology and weapons! Which they will use to further the Hindi North Indian agenda.

We in the Dravidian movement will work to oppose “India” from within. It angers me greatly to know Dravidians rolled over and allowed these two stupid, foreign aliens – Nehru and Patel – to invade and conquer our countries. That mistake must be rectified with Dravidian Independence! Kashmir, Goa,Sikkim, South Tibet,Nagaland,Khalistan etc., all these COUNTRIES must be free of “Indian” rule. With Western/American support including heavy sanctions against “India” and the BJP in particular, this can happen.

India as an Imperialist, Expansionist Settler-Colonial State

Eurasia E Zine writes:

Its not well known that British India comprised only about half of the sub continent at the time of Independence. During partition of India, a murderous civil war was unleashed between the Hindus and Muslims when the British agreed to the creation of the Islamic state of Pakistan and what is now Bangladesh. After Independence from Britain (mostly the former Mughal states) the Indian Union spearheaded a war of territorial expansion during which it forced, coerced or invaded the more than 550 independent Princely states including Kashmir and Hyderabad, as well as Goa and Pondicherry.

The Nizam of Hyderabad, the largest state in the subcontinent, appealed to Britain to become an independent nation within the Commonwealth but his request was refused by the Viceroy Lord Mountbatten whose wife Edwina was reputedly having an affair with Jawaharlal Nehru. The invasion of Hyderabad state by Operation Polo was on par with Hitler’s invasion of Poland and Czechoslovakia. India is a mosaic of culture and language that has been homogenized by Hindutva or Hindu fundamentalism.

Even now, Indian troops are occupying Kashmir against the will of the people. Indian nationalists were pro German and supported the Axis powers during WW2 and Hindutva and RSS brown shirts are ideologically fascists whose agenda is modeled on that of the Italian fascist Mazzini. For this reason, India should not be allowed to buy uranium or develop nuclear weapons.

So India is a settler-colonial state, an expansionist and imperialist state that likes to wages wars of aggression and expansion to conquer other states, steal their land, annex them to itself, and then settle them with Indians. Wars of expansion are now called Nazi-type wars. They were frequent in the old days, but since WW2, they have been banned. You are no longer allowed to seize territory in any war, even if the other side started it. Wars of territorial expansion no matter who started are banned by the UN Charter and international law.

The resemblance with Nazi Germany, Mussolini’s Italy and Tojo’s Japan are instructive. All of these were fascist and militarist states that sought to have empires or expand their national territory in one way or another by conquering other lands. These lands and peoples were to be exploited for their resources and labor an settled with settler-colonists. But the main principal is “Lebensraum” – living room – the desire for more territory, for territorial expansion. Although it is dubious whether India is a fascist country and I doubt if it is a racist fascist (National Socialist or Nazi) country, the similarities with other ultranationalist states that waged wars of aggression and expansion is most disturbing.

The fact that the vast majority of Indians apparently see nothing wrong with being an expansionist imperialist country that wages wars of aggression, territorial acquisition and expansion is possibly even more disturbing.

What the heck is wrong with these people?

Akhand Bharat is just a joke.

Akhand Bharat will never come to fruition.

Who wants to be a part of India? Nobody.

Trust me...most of the Indian will agree with you..There is nothing Akhand Bharat...It is an utopian dream like Islamic brotherhood concept..

See ...we agree with so many topics too...

Well, most Indians would leave India if they can. It's a unnatural country that need to split up into many pieces. As president Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore said, India is stitched together by the British railroads.

There is absolutely nothing Utopian about 'Akhand Bharat'. Utopia is an ideal world where everyone is happy - Akhand Bharat is just black imperialism shoved down everyone's throat.
