. . . . . . .
Should have flown JF-17. Even one that was ready.
Yaar, i have mentioned it before, with just one JF-17B ready, there was no standby aircraft and if there was a ground abort then there would be nothing for the air chief to fly in.

.
It was intentional. They rehearsed with only one as well.

Why would they do that? Doesn't make sense. The effect is much better with both smokers on not just one.

Looks like both were working fine here:

If you watch the video, portside smoker goes out shortly after this moment once the pilot starts doing barrel rolls. Looks like it kept puffing remnants here and there after which means it had a problems. Those have a habit of going out.

Out of curiosity, what serial # is that particular aircraft the chief flew in? I ask because the one taking off in the video looks like a single seat block 52. If you pause it at minute 0:39, you can clearly see the canopy is a single seat blk 52 with the extended tail and that particular aircraft is not the 2-seat F-16D block 52 with the square spine. A bit confusing since the CFT is only used on an F-16 blk 52s you guys have which means he should be flying in one of these D models...

...not one of the older Bs I believe, yes?

It was indeed. You can also see two fuel tanks and two missiles on the taking off aircraft which were not present on CAS' aircraft. They mashed another take off clip into the original video to make it sort of complete.

I see. Thanks for the valuable info but I don't get the fuss by some people about it. Things go wrong.. we have Alhamdulillah arranged one of the best and the safest parades in the world and our armed forces should be given full credit for it. Why do we have to focus on the 100 ml empty in a 1.0 litre cup (i.e. 900 ml full). Every thing worked like a clock work and I won't be complaining much if a smoke dispenser goes off. It will a bit more serious if it was in an airshow.

My only criticism is about the lag between the commentary and the visuals but as we know it is more of PTV issue.

I didn't even notice the fuel tanks. I was concentrating on the top parts of the aircraft but you're 100% right.
There is something spectacular about a clean F-16 with nothing hanging off the wings. It just looks like nothing else.

Completely agree.

F-16 is still the main aircraft of PAF inventory, and flying it on Pakistan day is more like a tradition to inspire the junior officers and pilots
