What's new

Eurofighter Typhoon!

Gripen costs between $40–61 million (export price VAT excluded).

Include the VAT and it will go beyond USD 65 Million +, secondly USD 40 Million is age old price quote for Gripen and Gripen NG with AESA and other flight suites and data links will cost way more, to India Gipen is being offered at more than USD 60 Million.

You can make it as expensive as you want.

Its not upto me or you, but SAAB to decide the price...USD 40 Million was an old price known to everyone...things have changed since then, new technology with Millions of Dollars of investment has been incorporated into the program and even MIG-35 (which is under development) with AESA will not cost USD 40 Million with a Final Offer Price...Price Escalation is a reality I don't know why it is so hard for you to accept it!

I fully understand what you are saying, but it is not only SAAB who decides the price. The countries who buy the planes can also influence the price.

You are correct, only bulk orders may reduce the price, but only marginally , lets say if the unit cost is USD 65 Million a bulk order of 100 A/Cs can reduce cost by maximum of 2-5 Million per unit (which according to me will be huge) i.e reduction of USD 200-500 Million, still the cost would be USD 60-63 Million/unit!

That is true.

Typhoon. is the best Air supremacy fighter in the World bar the F22

But is not a true multi role fighter cause both the Rafael and the F18 Super hornets are better strike platforms.

In fact some believe the RCS and electroinc jamming make the hornets lower RCS than Typhoon.

Typhoon also is vry costly 35% more than F18 super hornet.

In this league for PAF only FC20 is afforable at half the cost
