Eurofighter says Kuwait purchasing 28 warplanes

Back in 2006, Pakistan did consider Eurofighter Typhoon. It was also the time when Saudi Arabia was evaluating the aircraft. I dont know what happened afterwards.

Who knows... Maybe that's the 'western' fighter ACM Sohail Aman is looking at. *unleash the rumours. let the wish-lists flow...*

Seriously? Given their public mood towards countries like Pakistan, I don't think so. And those aren't some 3rd world countries where the mood of general public is not translated at the highest echelons of Power, so expect nothing but orders for "DO-MORE" against terrorism.

They also have a good amount of Indian influence, Pakistan is being isolated with each passing day. No matter what you say, but Indians are actually good at making case out of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan in their country and the sooner we do something about it, the better we get out of this isolation.

Otherwise, i fear that time would come when this policy of good-bad terrorist would leave us buried under huge sanctions. Majority of them hate us! The sooner we accept this fact and come out of the fantasy where everybody loves us because of our strategic position, the better!
First of all, most European nations have been pretty good with Pakistan, especially now a days; Don't confuse them with the US.

Next, Pakistan has more allies than ever before, it is NOT be isolated. If this was 2010, may be I would have agreed with you, but times have changed. India cannot isolate Pakistan, simply because Pakistan is too important geopolitically to isolate efficiently. That's just a fact, and we can see that clearly. Pakistani exports to the EU have grown, it's links to central Asia has expanding, Iran is looking to connect itself with Gwadar, so on and so forth. This is not what you would call "isolation". Even the US is starting to come back to Pakistan, as they're (once again) looking to involve Pakistan as a mainstay in another military alliance.

There was never a policy of "good-bad terrorist", this is mere propaganda. The policy was "don't make enemies out of groups that aren't your enemy.", there is a clear cut difference. Pakistan never wanted to be a part of this war on terror, but was forced to, so it looked to do it's best and survive until the whole situation settles down; unfortunately, Pakistan can no longer afford to just sit back, which is why PA launched it's operations in the first place.

PAF is going on the other way:
50+ SU-35s
50+ F-16 Block-52(May be)
100+ used F-16s Block-15
150+ JF-17s till 2022-2025

100+ JF-17s for PNAF
Su-35s are never going to happen, the F-16s have already been upgraded to modern standard, and the JF-17s are behind schedule. As for the PN, it's still yet to be seen what will happen on that front.

2006? That was during Musharraf's time, which means that Zardari, once again, ruined another defense deal due to his economic policy.

These deals usually take years to sign, talks may have died when Zardari came to power.

Eurofighter says Kuwait purchasing 28 warplanes - The Economic Times

BERLIN: Kuwait has agreed to buy 28 Typhoon warplanes, becoming the third country in the Gulf region to order the combat aircraft, the Eurofighter consortium said Friday.

Its statement did not give financial details about the deal, which was struck between Kuwait and Italy.

Eurofighter is a partnership between Italy's Finmeccanica, Britain's BAE Systems and civilian planemaker Airbus.

According to Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper, the order was estimated to be worth between seven and eight billion euros ($8-9 billion).

"This new agreement is the confirmation of the superiority of the Eurofighter over its competitors and will provide a great opportunity for further Eurofighter orders," said Eurofighter CEO Alberto Gutierrez in the statement.

"The Eurofighter is already proven and trusted by six nations to perform in all operational environments," he added.

In the Gulf region, Eurofighter noted that Saudi Arabia and Oman already had Typhoon jets in their air force.

The deal with Kuwait represents a setback for US rival Boeing.

Kuwait had been expected to opt for Boeing's Super Hornet F18s.

The Gulf state is looking to upgrade its firepower against the backdrop of increased security concerns in the region linked to the rise of the Islamic State jihadist group.

The Eurofighter Typhoon, which first entered into service in late 2003, is Europe's largest collaborative defence programme, with the Kuwait purchase taking the number of committed orders for the aircraft to 599.

Kuwait made a good choice. Our eurofighter typhoons are the best 4th generation fighter jet in the world right now. India should have gone for Eurofighter as well instead of Rafale. @Gabriel92, désolé j'ai pas pu m'empêcher.:P

Typhoon gives air forces the capability to effectively deliver a full spectrum of air operations - from air policing and peace support, through to high intensity conflict, thanks to its inherent flexibility and adaptability. The aircraft's swing-role capability provides the widest possible range of air-to-air and air-to-surface mission profiles.

Together with our partners we have developed an aircraft that boasts unrivalled combat capability, impressive situational awareness, high survivability and the most advanced array of integrated sensors. In short, Typhoon is a total solution for any modern air force.

HOW IT PERFORMS

Without question one of the Typhoon's defining qualities is its versatility

  • Powered by two Eurojet EJ200 engines providing an excellent combat thrust-to-weight ratio in excess of 1.2:1 with 30% thrust growth available.
  • Typhoon’s robust design and Flight Control System enables the pilot to fly aggressively to outmanoeuvre enemy aircraft under all combat conditions.
  • Brakes off to take off in less than 8 seconds and supersonic under 30 seconds.
  • Brakes off to 36,000 feet Mach 1.6 in under 2½ minutes.

SWING-ROLE

Typhoon is a multi-role aircraft which can switch easily between being a fighter aircraft as well as a bomber aircraft. Thus making it a true swing-role aircraft.

PAVEWAY IV

Paveway™IV is the next generation guided weapon selected by the UK Ministry of Defence for the Precision Guided Bomb (PGB) programme.

In an environment where time sensitive targeting remains fundamental to success, Paveway™IV provides the ultimate in operational flexibility. The combat proven dual-mode guidance, together with height of burst and penetrating capability in one weapon system, enable the decision of target engagement to be made right up to the point of release.

It has been successfully integrated onto the Harrier GR9/9A and Tornado GR4 and under contract is being integrated onto Typhoon and Joint Combat Aircraft. It expands the boundaries of traditional laser guided weapons and also exceeds the range of rival GPS guided bombs. The enhanced launch zone increases both weapon effectiveness and platform survivability.

HOW TO BUILD A TYPHOON

The Typhoon has been developed by four of the world's leading aerospace companies.

The partner companies involved include ourselves, Airbus Defence and Space (Germany), Alenia Aermacchi of Italy and Airbus Defence and Space (Spain). Each of the European Partner Companies has responsibility for different elements of the aircraft build with production work-shares corresponding to the number of aircraft ordered by each nation.

The partnership operates through Eurofighter GmbH, the company set up to manage the development and production of the Typhoon.

Getting the crews off the ground at such short notice called for a massive effort, not least from the men and women on our teams who support the RAF and UK MOD on a daily basis. But that’s whatsupporting Typhoon is all about.

The Eurofighter Typhoon’s latest weapon – isn’t something slung under the wing – but a system with ‘brains’ that sits on the pilot’s head.

  • A single load of Typhoon fuel can send a Ford Ka around the world 6 times
  • Typhoon can pull up to 9g which creates loads equivalent to no less than 30 elephants pressing down on the wings
  • Typhoon can fly from Lands End to John ‘O Groats (603 miles) in under 30 mins
  • Alternatively we could go from London to Birmingham in under 6 mins
  • From releasing its brakes a Typhoon can take off in under 8 seconds
  • Typhoon can be supersonic in under 30 seconds
