Euro Area GDP Growth Halts in Q2

Euro Area seasonally adjusted GDP remained stable in the second quarter of 2014, compared with the previous quarter, according to the flash estimate. Strong numbers in Spain and Netherlands were not enough to offset shrinking growth in Germany and Italy and stagnant France.

Among Euro Area member states, Cyprus economy contracted the most (-0.3 percent), followed by Germany and Italy (-0.2 percent respectively). The expansion was reported in Netherlands (0.5 percent), Spain (0.6 percent), Belgium (0.1 percent), Portugal (0.6 percent), Austria (0.2 percent), Estonia (0.5 percent), Slovakia (0.6 percent) and Finland (0.1 percent). The growth stalled in France.

Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP grew by 0.7 percent after a 0.9 percent rise at the beginning of the year.

EU in red if the trend continues, while Russia will maintain 1-2% of growth in this year, while more in the next year.

That's why EU-Russia sanction war is not the best thing to do right now

. .
Another century of that and the rest of the world might catch up with our living standards.

Wont take this long.

As this rate, countries like Turkey and Malaysia would be pretty much on a par by 2030.

Poorer countries like Indonesia will get there by 2050.

Russia's growth is projected at 0.2% -0.4% this year and this if the sanctions don't get tougher. At least the Western economies are developed ones, which is not Russia's case.

Dude, many had predicted that the EU would be hurting badly if it got into a trade war with Russia.

Stop this for both the sake of both EU and Russia.

Overtime new markets for Russia would open up but the EU will find no real alternative for Russia's oil and gas and as a huge importer of EU goods.

Let Russia have Crimea and the Russian-speaking parts of Ukraine and go back to business.

The funny thing is, these are second quarter figures. The extent of the damage wont be fully seen until third quarter ( thats called unterstanding the data and how to interpret it and how to assimilate it ). Not just repeating random figures. But from the data im looking at, third quarter figures in europe are going to look bad. I mean real bad as in -1% growth.

Russia is doing well in comparison. The simple difference is Russia can always find suppliers in BRICS SCO UNASUR AND EAU. Nato on the other hand have nobody they can sell their new surplusses to. I mean food is perishable so they will lose huge amounts of product and wont be able to sell to anyone else. Third quarter is going to be ugly for Europe. Maybe Mario draghi can just start printing some money because thats the only way they will get over this economically. Thats why all these countries are asking for money they know doesnt exist. They are asking the ECB to print more monopoly money out of thin air.

Polish fredom apples anyone?

Ahahahahahahahahahaha

Asian countries might overtake European countries in terms of GDP and perhaps Per Capita but I am seriously doubtful, if those countries can ever catch up with the standard of living that Europeans enjoy!

Netherlands is doing well because of me? ;) ..drinking more beer than before! ..

You do know that when Eurasia had vast empires that were thousands of years old, the europeans were living in caves right? The world is cyclical. Eurasia is rising my friend. Europe is old and dying. They only reached the level of development they did by stealing allthe worlds resources and enslaving half its people.

Well those days are over. They have no natural resources of their own, the have a huge population in a very tiny continent that consumes more than continents twice its size. Youth unemployment is at 30-60% in many countries in the EU. They are dying a slow painful death. And they have nothing the world needs. All their technologies can be purchased from other nations. lazy citizenry that is used to living off government hand outs. Its a massive welfair state. They will be at Eurasian border in a century begging to be let in.

Europe a good place to go on vacation and maybe for university as well. Its has no other value whatsoever.

Then what ? Appeasing Hitler/Stalin/Putin type rulers only brings misery in the long time and far worse consequences, history is a testimony to that.

Russia is not a threat to anyone apart from the parts it considers Russian - those territories that have majority Russia speakers.

Look at the Middle East and see the disintegration of countries like Syria and Iraq happening before your very eyes.

Countries that are not homogenous are bound to disintegrate in the end. It is better to accept the reality than fight it and end up hurting yourself for no real gain.

Remember Romania is a real nation but Ukraine is just a legal entity whose borders were decided for political convenience.

Lol. You really are a gypsy retard. Hitler killed tens of millions while he conquered all of europe. Putin has killed no one. He defends his borders and his people. You overly dramatic comments just show how little credibility you have.

My little dancing gypsy stooge.
