How big if an issue is ethnonationalism in Pakistan? Recently I've seen some punjabi ethnonationalism online which is something I've never seen before so naturally it's quite concerning...

i say big - one ethnic domination is a problem, and hating other ethnic groups another problem, singling them out for cursing if they do crime or negative things but its ok for the rest of ethnics to do it.

Im quite concerned about this. India is more diverse than us yet they don't seem to have the same level of seperatism. I don't think the state really does anything to counter ethnonationalism, they don't even promote state perspective and traitors are given free for all ..

they do lynching muslims, christians, dalits.

Depending on how you define it, ethnonationalism is only really a problem in unitary states. If you manage to turn Pakistan into something akin to Holy Roman Empire, any reason for separatism disappears. Of course, doing that might cause different problems.

What's the solution? More provinces?

Etho nationalism will happen when people try making Pakistan secular and liberal. “Pakistani” nationalism doesn’t exist. Pakistan was created on the name of Islam only thing that unites us is Islam without Islam there’s no Pakistan. If we continue the bullshit of “Pakistani nationalism” than we will just end up with more etho nationalism because in Pakistan the society is my family bs yours, my tribe vs yours, my ethnicity vs yours. Only islam can keep us united and we should as a nation become more Islamic because a more Islamic nation will have almost no etho nationalism

Yeah I once looked around both Pashtun, Punjab reddit - basically places for ethno nationalist folks
I wouldn't call it "separatist"- Pashtun (pak+Afghan) reddit was filled with Afghan people shit talking Punjabis, against Pakistani nationalism but no one was looking for "separatism" even in a toxic place like that they were not talking about "separatism" at most people- "afghans" might talk about a autonomous province
More focused on Ethno nationalism

Punjab (mix of Indian,Pak Punjab) reddit is also about "punjabiyat" - A little less toxic but I have read some shit talk against Hindustani/Pashtun but not a lot - its mostly about promotion of Punjabi language, culture, traditions, history etc

I think OP is fearing it a little too much... normal in a multi ethnic country and the critical mistake is - Ethno nationalism =/ separatism
Different things

I don't want to look at Sindhi stuff though- I fear it...
Pak south is deep into ethno-nationalism

You should do more research into Indian ethno-nationalism than, you are way wrong in my humble opinion ...

r/Pashtun is a dumpster fire. It is basically like an Afghan Facebook Group, full of fake news, Gul Marjan antics, and Punjabi blaming. Coming from a Pashtun.

Nah we don't have an ethno nationalism "problem" HOWEVER there are ethno nationalistic sentiments in certain parts of the country (Chaman, Central Balochistan, ex FATA/Waziristan). Diaspora and urban youth are marrying across ethnic lines, something never thought about in the 60s. Sindhi Nationalism is more prevalent and mainstream than Pashtun nationalism.

A way to solidify it would be more federalism and provinces

Exactly. The only reason a Punjabi and a Pashtun relate to each other is because of Urdu and Islam.

By that standard isn't it better to be with Taliban than to be in Pakistan? - they are certainly the most most Islamic country out there
All this " we should as a nation become more Islamic because a more Islamic nation " do is turn you into a more extremist society

Its a tricky line - to get out of ethno-nationalism you get into religious extremism - Not sure if its good for the nation

B- Agreed I can think of 5-6 provinces rn but we lack the politcal will and capital to do so
we cant even get the basic South Punjab province right (with almost no opposition to it)
how can we expect the trickier ones like Potohar, Hazara, Pashtun Baluchistan- meaning smaller land mass to control, Karachi Hyderabad

A disappointment really...

Taliban than to be in Pakistan?

Taliban has ethno nationalist tendencies as well. However, I agree with you religion has also snowballed itself, hence the massive TLP rallies that we see.

Pakistan's provincial problems will keep haunting itself.

For 70+ year Baluch, Pukhtun, Muhajir and Sindhis showed ethanonationalism and no one was concerned but only when some Punjabis showed ethnic color, you are concerned!!

Nationalism and ethnocentrism is the new opium being pushed by the liberal secularist Islam hating degenerates...this is their third attempt to co-opt religion after having failed at by first socialism/communism, then enlightened moderation crap liberalism and now ethno-nationalism.
