I think there is identity crisis in Pakistan but not because of going crazy over Erugrul etc. However it can be seen in the aversion to owning up to using 'Pakistan'. Other synonyms like Desi, Asian, Indian, Muslim are used. If if Pakistan is used it will be hyphenated with Indian.

I actually watched mehmud serial documentary on Netflix and it was pretty good. On his invasion of Constantinople and calling himself Caesar.
I think the problem comes when a Prime Minister of Pakistan promotes a Turkish identity series over a one who was the son of the soil. But sadly Pakistan do not have much son of the soil heroes among Muslims, nor even tragic ones, to look forward to.

But isn't he recognised as an Afghan emperor? But even if he is, then its Pakistani responsibility to make series on him. Then there is Ranjit Singh. Though he is the same as Punjabis, he is a Sikh. Lots of Sikh gurus who resisted Mughals and attained Martyrdom. Probably some small Muslim chieftains too. But Pakistani identity is being framed around who is Muslim and who is not.
