What's new

Erdogan's new Pentagon

Turks are becoming Pakistanis now?

Back in 1999 right after the nuclear tests with the economy teetering the leader of the poonjab Nawaz Sharif authorized rework at some half used forest guest house for then Rs 100 million while the roads around the area were still in crumbles. That was because he wanted to visit it frequently.

While improving presidential palaces or creating new HQ has nothing wrong with it - it probably comes later in priority lists after you have solved your exodus of pilots and no clear AD or 5th gen capability available.
How much was 100 million Rs back then?

Wow this thread wet the bed so quickly. And mods you deleted my innocent comment. Happy now?
whet someone's appetite.

That's always the case everywhere. Maybe I am a cynic but behind almost all huge patriotic projects in every single country on this planet, there's always this small group of people making big money. No matter what the project, the country, the regime or the geopolitical situation--someone somewhere is always making money.

True.

The campus of Marmara University, the university I studied at, was similarly moved out of the city. Marmara University had 4-5 campuses scattered around the city. All of them had green areas and all of them stayed in the city center of Istanbul over time. The main campus was right in the middle of the new financial centre. The values of all these lands had increased astronomically. For this reason, the AKP government gathered all campuses in one place and moved them out of the city.

From what I hear on TV here,Erdogan has been involved in many financial scandals. Maybe not him directly, but his son,his son-in-law,others in his family and his friends or circle of power.

The question that should be asked is, will it make command and control in the Turkish military significantly better, or is the current command and control facilities sufficient? Perhaps the older building were so worn out this is indeed a much needed upgrade that will allow the Turks to modernize all aspects of their command and control as well as build in the means to mitigate the risk of espionage against them.
why is everyone imitating US, by making similar looking buildings they won't become a similar power?
Military command and control should be spread out and invisible
Not a good idea to house all command and control in one location — but who am I to say.
I don't think Turkey needs more gigantic projects right now when the Lira is so low and the people are complaining about the food prices etc. He even has a command and control center in the Presidential Compound in Ankara!

"The Presidential Palace compound is said to contain a top secret special operations command and control center housed in a secure bunker. The center has a 143 screen visual command center which correlates data obtained from UAVs, MOBESE CCTV, TV and 3G transmissions from all 81 provinces of Turkey.[27][3] The Gendarmerie, Disasters and Emergencies Management Directorate, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), Turkish Armed Forces and MIT can provide live feeds to the Presidential Command Center.[28][3]"

Eyewash and deflection, from real issues.

So long as turkey remains a NATO member state, it will remain a subject of the Zionist-West. They can build as many Pentagons, Capitol Hills and White Houses in Angora, they want, it doesn't free them of slavery to the Zionist-West.

That too,of course. But how can he not get his opponents angry when he spends money just like that and the economy is having trouble.
Prices in Turkey, especially when it comes to vegetables and fruit, are going up and people have been complaining about the economy.

His adventurism hasn't paid of at all. Have a look at the following:

UAE, Turkey discuss relations amid signs of rapprochement
Ankara to hand over 15 Muslim Brotherhood figures to Cairo
Second round of Egyptian-Turkish talks will be held in Ankara

Such claims happen all the time. They are worthless unless proven.

There is another issue here that is problematic in terms of political ethics. The only thing that the AKP government considers when starting a project is not the country's interest. If their core supporters are not going to make a profit from that project, they do not start that project even if it is in the interest of the country!

This is the problematic point in terms of political ethics.

Let's go back to the example of Marmara University campuses. It is a problem for a university to have 4-5 campuses tucked away in the heart of the city. Ideally, they should all be gathered in one place and outside the city. So far, no problem.

So why haven't they done this project before? Because the lands of those campuses had not yet reached astronomical values and the financial benefit to be obtained from them and distributed to the core supporters of the AKP was not yet at a sufficient level. ;)

Yeah,it was too good to be true(UAE and Egypt becoming his enemies). He does this all the time. At first he was friends with Israel, then in 2010 he sent that flotilla to Gaza and started all the rhetoric "oooh Kudus Kudus" etc.
He shot down the Russian Su-24 and refused to apologize, but when the Russians showed they weren't backing,he went to Moscow and apologized. Then he went into Syria and started he stuff again. Then he bought S-400s. Then he went to Libya.

They shut down his gas. Nearly 50% came from Russia.

He is a loose cannon, and as Pakistanis we are smitten by him. When Imran Khan came to power, and asked for financial help from allies, they increased Tariffs on Pakistani goods.
