* Erdogan bought useless S-400, lost valuable F-35 contract and all this for Sochi agreements with Putin.

* Putin broke Sochi agreements, captured territories and expelled 1.5 million people to tents.

* Capturing territories and expelling 1.5 mln people was not enough for Putin, he murdered over 50 Turkish soldiers just for fun. This finally forced Erdogan to react (he did not react when million people were expelled).

* Erdogan promised to take back all lands according to Sochi agreements. Instead he surrenders even more lands to Putin/Assad in new agreement (which Putin will break too).

Massive victory for the Syrian Government. Not only did Erdogan not get his Sochi lines, but he has relinquished control over even more territory. Not that it was his to relinquish anyway. Just a matter of time now until all of Idlib is liberated.

The problem is that air power alone was not going to bring victory to Turkey. They couldn't fly F16s deeper into Syria or risk being shot down by S-400. They would have to commit boots on the ground and then take heavy casualties.

They lost quite a few drones, how long could they keep this up for, considering they also have quite a stagnant economy? Not to mention this would eventually risk an actual war with Russia.

They're also up against 3 main players in Iran, Syria and Russia with an endless supply of mindless Shia mercenaries prepared to die for Tehran and Assad.

Julian just can’t understand why Turkey would surrender given how “successful” they’ve been. It’s as if he actually believes the numbers that Turkey is reporting.

How can Turkey score thousands of kills and suffer only tens of losses yet lose ground and then surrender? Logically, it’s clear that Turkey has not been truthful.

The deal doesn't require the SAA to retreat to the pre-conflict positions or relinquishing Saraqeb. The strategic M4 remains usable for SAA under the guise of joint TR-RU patrol. Do your math.
