Turkey is going ahead with its plans to take over security at the Kabul international airport after the pullout of U.S. troops, despite opposition from the Taliban. Ankara is in negotiations with Washington to secure the airport, which analysts say is key to maintaining stability and an international presence in Afghanistan.

The Taliban has warned Turkey of severe consequences if its military remains in Afghanistan when other foreign forces pull out, but Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in remarks this week, appeared to play down those threats and indicated negotiations would continue.

Turkey is planning to defend the Turkic community in Afghanistan. Alot of respect for them. They just need to reach a settlement with the Taliban. Afghanistan belongs to the Hazaras, Uzbekis, Tajikis, Turkman aswell as the Pashtun and Taliban. A unity government with provincial autonomous is the way forward.

They were always in and allied with Northern Alliance. The talks with the Taliban will break down and the Turks will react by increasing their presence. Turks will just do enough to keep the civil war inflamed just like they did in Syria. They will eventually realise that Ertugrul was just a fictitious character and that they are nothing like him. Erdogan is still living in fanciful delusions of the Ottoman empire and will be sucked into a war which Turkey will regret.

Edrogan wants to score some quick points with this move. Erdogan has been angering the Americans and Europeans a lot lately. S-400 acquisition, Syrian involvement due to Kurdish connection, Libyan involvement etc. In other words, a list of actions which have displeased an already angry American and European audience.

Afghanistan is a way to mend ties and curry some favor. Suicide mission as many have already suggested. We didn't wait 20 years to let Erdogan run away with the show. This our turn now and we won't allow anyone to spoil it.

It is in an ideal world, but Erdogan is using a different language. Instead of blaming the Taliban Erdogan should use reconciliatory and inclusive language. He is now blaming one side which is the majority and appeasing the other side. Erdogan is playing with fire. Turkic Afghans are not the only side people that live in Afghanistan.

Did you know that during the ousting of the Taliban in the early days of US/NATO intervention Taliban corpses were dragged through the streets of Afghanistan? Where was Erdogan or any Turkish leader to condemn their Northern Alliance Turkic brothers?

We don't require lessons from Erdogan or anyone about Taliban occupation. The Taliban are on a mission to reclaim what they lost. The Northern Alliance government was imposed by US/NATO. Remember that Turkey was part of US/NATO war against the Taliban. Turkey has also participated in alienating and removing Pashtun participation in Afghanistan.

Erdogan is making a huge mistake by taking responsibility for Kabul airport being the only source of weapons left open for the present government during this precarious situation. How will he justify to the rival party, the Taliban? The support of the govenment will be practically abetting against the other.
Erdogan is betting on the wrong horse in this race and he is too haughty to take into account anyone else suggestion.
The situation in Afghanistan is too fluid to predict but the Taliban control the lion's share in the country and they are the future rulers of the country.
