I've been following the Ukrainian media and social media for a few hours and talked to some of my friends: An irreparable divide is now emerging between Ukraine and Russia. Until now, Russia was showing maximum sensitivity not to sever emotional ties with the Ukrainian people, and we see that the policy has changed.
Russia will annex about half of Ukraine (and its population of about 8 million), and with the remaining 30 million Ukrainian population, it will settle for a never-ending enmity. Or it will occupy Ukraine completely, make the pro-Westerns leave the country, establish its own government and become the savior of the Ukrainian people. I'm not sure if the second method will work after this time.
What I'm basically trying to understand is this: If there will be no checks and balances in the world and every country will ignore the principle of immutability of borders to the extent that they can afford it, there will be no end to it. Here, a friend accuses us of being in a glass house. Even after the Turkish state signed a ceasefire in the first world war, hundreds of kilometers of territory continued to be occupied in violation of the agreements. These invaders drew almost all the borders in our region. Nevertheless we respected all of them. But If the world goes the new era, we also have many legitimate reason(as much Russia) to should support the borders of pre war, instead of 1923.
