The envoy said South Africa is in a very advanced process of introducing e-visa within 2020

South Africa has been considering to open a diplomatic mission in Dhaka to increase its socioeconomic relations with Bangladesh and enhance its presence in the global arena.

“Politically, a decision is there that we will open an embassy in Dhaka. But, like any configuration, it comes from a financial implication. And at present, South Africa is relooking our global presence,” said Ambassador Dr Anil Sooklal at a lecture session in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Sooklal is the deputy director general for Asia Pacific and the Middle East of Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in South Africa.

Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organized the lecture on --Commemorating the Silver Jubilee of Diplomatic Relations between South Africa and Bangladesh -- at its auditorium.

“I think, after 25 years of democracy and having established our presence globally, it will be a time to revitalize it. I can assure you that if we open any new office in Asia, it will be in Bangladesh,” Sooklal said.

He said they discussed it at a meeting on Tuesday about opening an embassy in Bangladesh.

“We have a political agenda and decision that we will have to open an embassy in Dhaka,” he added.

The South African envoy acknowledged that Bangladesh people are now facing difficulties in processing visa application from Colombo.

Noting that South Africa will shift this responsibility to New Delhi from Colombo soon, he said, "South Africa is in a very advanced process of introducing e-visa within the next year to alleviate much of challenges you are facing now in terms of getting visa.”

Chaired by Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque, the lecture session, was also addressed, by BIISS Director General AKM Abdur Rahman.

South Africa should no way be a desired country to immigrate to. War torn countries are far better than SA. It is historical, Africans dont like Indian descend.
Please ask @UKBengali why our people take life risk to go abroad on broken boats or go to a country like SA where the black people are just a bunch of thieves, swindlers, cheaters, and murders.

Dear @UKBengali, please come out with your renowned catchphrase, "Dude, everything will be just fine once my RSTP projects are completed by 2030. Please wait with deep patience and keep on taking the cricket training there".

African SAfricans are extremely xenophobic against anybody except White migrants, especially against their own African kin. Right now there are horrible incidences of xenophobic violence against African migrants in Johannesburg. Nigerians are bearing the brunt of the violence and killings. It is incorrect to say that South Africans do not like people of Indian descent. The Indian descendants of the indentured workers are living a rather good life in South Africa and many occupy top positions overall. The local African population just seem to have a problem with people competing for the lower end laborer jobs and that usually consists of fellow Africans from sub Sahara or middle belt Africa. Bangaldeshi, Pakistani and Indian migrants are usually just victims of crime, the same as everybody else there are

Right now it is the west africans especially Nigerians.
Casing point - these people come here by the droves and are into massive drug smuggling, vehicle stealing, entire scamming systems etc. They all need to be thrown out.
We are truly fed up of the rubbish we have collected here. It is huge mess.
You tell me, in a country of 50mil, we have over 5mil + illegals.

As far as Indians are concerned; we have our locals who are here for generations and they do well in society and are part of our fabric like our malays etc. But the transplanted indians especially by Guptas who manipulated our politicians and were in bed en masse to drink from the fountain. Sorry, all transplanted indians are now in the same light here.

For Paks/Banglas - we have many who are part of the massive racketing syndicates. There are others who try to make a life; those are welcome but please dont send bad eggs here.

People are completely fed up. Our immigration system is the principle cause to be blamed. All PRs must be halted.

I went to South Africa earlier this year. It is a beautiful country. We went to Cape Town and Kruger Park with a short stoper over in Joburg.

The Cape Town city centre is gorgeous, very European in it's style for the most part, very modern. You would think you were in a developed country.

However I could'nt help but notice the number of drug addicts going around begging for money and food. It was relentless! You see lots of them going through rubbish searching for food and stuff. One of them had a baby and was harrassing me for a good 5 mins before eventually I gave in and bought her some food at Eastern Bazaar. I am certain they were all South African locals as some were mixed race and spoke Afrikaans.

On the flip side pretty much all the grocery shops and convenience stores I went to were run by Bangladeshis and Somalians. Even the souvenir shops were run by people from other African countries. The UBER guy was from Zimbabwe..

Surely if the locals were doing these jobs in the first place then there would'nt be a need for migrant labour? Is it the case that many locals just don't want to work or are simply unemployable? I'm curious.
The issue is a mixed bag. We already had a high rate of unemployment and depending where you are some people are very enterpreneurals while others are just lazy - depends which province you are in. Tik is the biggest curse we have in drug addictions especially amongst the coloured volks.

Somalis do a lot of gun running and they have ghettos and it is really bad.

After aparthied; instead of taking it step by step and letting people start to take initiative; they flipping opened the borders and all tom dick and harry flooded in. Outsiders maximised their gains and those on the margins before could never recover.
