Encounter on between Maoists, paramilitary forces in Chhattisgarh

Now we know why Maoists are surviving. Its bloody simple, Communists in India are covertly supporting these $h!tbags. How do you think they have the resources to launch such attacks? It is not like today I get an ideology and resources fall out of the sky to back me up.

There is support for Maoist losers from politicians like Shibu Soren and CPI(M). Mamata Banerjee is also a known supporter. Now if this incident of Maoists not accepting the recounciliation package doesn't prove that they're terrorists, I don't know what does.

Army should be advised with consequences to top brass to tackle this situation if they're not wanting to handle Maoists. They're not the government to refuse direct orders from central command.

Is there any documented proof of their resources and supporters ??

Jana Mamta Bangergi and Shibu soren asked the government to stop action against the Maoists..Mamta even wanted the government to critiize the left government in Bengal not maoists for the killings done by Maoists in Bengal..she wanted people to hate left government so that she can be the next CM..what did this all tells you??

I know what they say. But these are not some out of the world comments or demands which were not forwarded by others.

Many critics says the same.

My question is what are the sources of naxals.maoists

Encounter with Naxals in Dantewada over, no casualties

Raipur: A fierce encounter took place on Wednesday between a police party of 75 personnel and Maoists near Kirandul in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

Due to heavy rains in the area, the authorities could not contact the police party, resulting in fears of casualties. However, as per latest information, the police party is safe and there were no casualties.

"The force is safe and on its way back," said IG (Bastar) T J Longkumer. He confirmed there have been no police casualties in the encounter with Maoists.

He said it was not clear if any Maoists had been killed. "We have searched the area, we have not found any casualties".

"The encounter began around 11 am and lasted till 1pm with on and off firing," he said.

Earlier reports said that about 70 police personnel were reported missing in Chhattisgarh forests amid a major gunfight between heavily-armed Maoists and police in Dantewada area.

A strong contingent of District Force (DF) and Koya Commandos, comprising Special Police Officers (SPOs) had gone into the forests around 11 am after police were tipped-off about the presence of a unit headed by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) commander Ganesh Uike in Gumiapal forests, said Mishra.

The encounter took place in the forests of Goomiapal, near Kirandul, 40 kilometres from Dantewada, Mishra added.

Additional CRPF reinforcements were also rushed to the encounter site.

On April 6, 75 CRPF personnel and a state policeman were killed in Dantewada after over 100 Naxals ambushed the patrol party and looted weapons.

In another incident on June 29, a large number of heavily-armed Maoists, perched on a hilltop, had opened fire with automatic weapons on a 63-member security contingent which was returning on foot from road opening duty, killing 26 CRPF personnel in Narayanpur district. The dead included a CRPF Assistant Commandant Jatin Gulati.

Mate!! 4 jawans got martyrdom, while more than 6 naxalites had been killed..The earlier news was wrong of 25 deaths...

A combined search party of Chhattisgarh Police's Special Task Force and Dantewada district police clashed with Naxals on Tuesday in the Gumiapal forests in Dantewada district.

Contrary to initial reports of security forces suffering heavy losses, a senior Chhattisgarh police officer told rediff.com, "All policemen involved in search operations in the Gumiapal forests are safe. There has been no casualty from our side. We have confirmed that they are still in the forest, and are on their way back."

"Some Maoists have been killed in the encounter. We are trying to ascertain the number of Maoists dead and get their bodies. The team is still inside the forest. We will know more when they come out," a senior intelligence officer said.

"Everyone in our party is safe. But the encounter is still going on. It is raining heavily and the firing is now only sporadic," Rajesh Kukreja, additional Superintendent of Police, Dantewada, told rediff.com.

Asked about the Maoists' casualty, he said, "We can confirm it only once the firing stops and a thorough search is conducted in the region."

Asked about earlier reports about some policemen were feared killed, he said: "I do not know. None of my officers gave out such information. We do not know which source the reports quoted. I can definitely say for sure that our entire forces are 100 per cent safe till now."

Asked how long it would take for the forces to come out of the forest, he said, "Once firing stops completely, they will make their way out of the forests. It is a 14 km trek, and in this weather, it will take at least five hours after firing has completely stopped."

Amid growing worries over the safety of security personnel, who were caught in the Maoist ambush in the dense forests of Gumiyapal, Chhattisgarh police has claimed that all the members of state’s Special Task Force (STF), Dantewada district police force and ‘Koya commando’ were safe and they had in fact inflicted causalities on the rebel side.

“All of them are safe. But they are returning to their base camp. A company of security forces and a contingent of Para-military were sent to the encounter spot as reinforcement”, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) T J Longkumeer said.

“Our men have retaliated and came out of the ambush. At least four to five Naxalites might have killed in the encounter. We will be able to get more details only after they returned to their base”, he added.

A team of 100 security personnel, comprising personnel from the Dantewada district police, Special Task Force (STF) and “Koya commandos”—local tribal youth who were Special Police Officers (SPO) and later absorbed into the regular force--had left Kirandul police station in the morning for a routine search operation. Initial reports said these search parties were ambushed by the Maoists in the forests of Gumiyapal, about eight Kms from Kirandul, leading to a fierce encounter.

Speculation grew that 75 security personnel were "missing" in the forests after the Maoist ambush as the police claimed that they were unable to contact those in the search parties and they were finding it difficult to move in the reinforcement parties because of rains in the area. Besides, helicopter could not take off because of inclement weather. However, police confirmed by the evening that "All is well".

Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Ram Niwas confirmed that all security personnel were safe and they were returning to their base camps. " It is taking time as adequate precautions are being taken as the area is considered as sensitive and to avoid the possibility of any attack on the police parties", he added.

For the last four months, Naxalites had stepped up violence against the security personnel, particularly targeting the para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Nearly 150 security personnel, majority from the CRPF, were killed in different attacks that took place in Dantewada, Narayanpur and Bijapur districts in Bastar region--triggering a blame game between the CRPF and the state police.

While the state police held a perception that CRPF personnel were getting ambushed due to their own follies, including for not following the standard operation procedures--the para-military has been blaming the state police for alleged lack of coordination. Union Home secretary G K Pillai and Chief Minister Raman Singh had to intervene to hammer out the differences between the state police and the para-military force.

On the contrary, the district police team, STF and 'Koya commandos' were successful in engaging the rebels in a pro-longed encounter today and forcing the rebels to retreat, police sources claimed.
