Egypt in talks with Pakistan for joint production of JF-17 Thunder

Cairo is in talks with Pakistan to begin joint production of JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft, Jane's understands from Egyptian defence industry sources.Even as the talks continued regarding JF-17 assembly in Egypt, however, the US Department of Defense announced on 2 March that an initial contract worth some USD213 million had been finalised with Lockheed Martin for Egypt's procurement of additional F-16C/D multirole fighters. If the deal for the single-engine JF-17 is approved, Egypt would become the first export client for the aircraft. The Pakistan Air Force formally inducted the type into service in February. While the number of aircraft Egypt plans to acquire has not been revealed, the inclusion of local assembly in the deal suggests that the contract would be for at least 48 JF-17s.

Fantastic news indeed. Egypt needs to replace it huge aging fleets of mig-21, J-7, Mirage 5, and F-4. And JF-17 will absolutely be the best choice. This jet is reliable and economic.

The news was posted a long time ago, like a year or so and I thought the talks were stopped and dead. But it's good to see the talks still alive&kicking. This will be a pretty good replacement for old aicrafts i.e. Mig21, j-7 etc. It's cheap and economic and will fit nicely.

Listen buddy, why don't you give us... say.. your 100 F-16 block 52 and we give you our 65 F-5, noting that their lamps and tires were replaced with brand new ones.:coffee:

this is an old news.
talks are dead, otherwise it would've been on many other news.

You got this news from a blog that didn't even date the specific post you got the news from...

Find a credible source if this information is true.

Also we don't need to jointly produce this with Egypt, if the deal is suppose to go on, Egypt simply purchase it from Pakistan, PAC is already manufacturing at a decent rate.

Edit: Pakistan really does need to export this to as many nations as possible, what happened to Azerbaijan? Sell it to South American, African, and other Asian countries...

Who are you?

good, lets grow together :)

Pakistan is always ready willing and able to help friendly muslim nations modernize their Defence capabilities. it will be our pleasure to work with our Egyptian Brothers to make them strong against common enemies.

Especially now that Egypt has new leadership under President Morsi...

Pakistan has supported Muslim Brotherhood for over 80 years.

South Asia's greatest Islamic scholar Maulana Abul ala Maududi was very close friend of Hassan al Banna and Syed Qutb of Muslim Brotherhood ( Al Ikhwan e Muslimeen). Both Banna and Syed Qutb read articles written by Maududi with great interest.

Isn't JF-17 just the Pakistani name for Chinese FC-1? Even FC-1 uses Russian engines? Why would anybody need Pakistan's help in production of this aircraft? What is Pakistan's contribution to it? Can somebody show any proof of Pakistani scientists or engineers involved in the design, development and manufacture at any stage?

Banglar Lathial strikes again.:taz: Do you know that American Abrams main canon was originally designed and made by Germany? And do you know that the Israeli Merkava-4 engine is imported from Germany?, and do you know that many American arm equipment parts are imported from other countries like the fast rate canon 76 mm used on frigates are imported from Italy?, and do you know that some Russian modern equipment like Su-30 and T-90 use French and Israeli electronics as is the case with the Thales thermal imagery on T-90? and the list goes on and on. You embarrass yourself too much here man.

And...............Who may you be - if you don't mind? (pun intended) :drag:
