Delhi students hold solidarity march for Egyptian protesters | TwoCircles.net

New Delhi: Egypt Solidarity Forum organized a solidarity candle light march yesterday to support people’s ongoing struggle in Egypt. Hundreds of students, academicians and activists of different political parties participated in the march at the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Starting from Ganga Dhaba, the march ended at Chandrabhaga hostel where convener of Egypt Solidarity Forum Omair Anas addressing the marchers. He said that the revolution is just on the half way and Hosni Mubarak cannot face people’s stiff resistance to his oppressive tactics. He said that this solidarty march is historical in the sense that “we don’t want Egyptian people to feel isolated; rather they should know that they are not alone.” Hosni Mubarak regime has been oppressing its own people and using worst oppressive tactics to crush civil society’s every effort, he added.

Prof. Ramakrishna of JNU said that this revolution has grown out of longtime unanswered grievances and increased gap between delivery and promises. He also emphasized that the revolution will engulf other countries. SFI’s Anand, AISA’s Vismay and DSU’s Anirban also spoke and expressed their full solidarity with the people of Egypt.

“We believe that Egyptian people are victims of their own rulers as well as their western masters. Recent Tunisian revolution has brought pains and ironies of Tunisian people to the world’s knowledge which has been hidden by Ben Ali as part of Tunisia Shining project. In Egypt also, Hosni Mubarak has protected interests of capitalists, multinationals and his Western masters mainly the United States. Egyptian people are still deprived from development, employment and dignity of being citizen of a respected nation and living in inhuman conditions. Laborer’s movements, judge’s struggle, students’ struggle and opposition parties have all been repeatedly crushed,” said the Forum in a release.

Its not a protest, its a solidarity march peacefully without calling bands and causing inconvenience to people which some political parties in India are famous for which is really stupid

I don't understand why you are being so antsy or calling it stupid? They want to express their support for democracy in Egypt.

I don't agree with their leftist thought but I think GoI should atleast come out with some support to the side of true democratic reforms in Egypt.

i have nothing against showing solidarity with Egyptian civilians.

Muslim brotherhood is major opposition party(though banned) in Egypt and enjoys widespread support..but worrying factor is top echelons of Al-Qaida have hailed from this same organisation..in fact is one of the reasons why west supports Mubarak..he has kept Islamist forces in Egypt in check.
