What's new

Egypt calls Erdogan statements ‘ironic,’ accuses Turkey of sponsoring terrorism

They really should focus on themselves instead of searching for enemies.

If our "rights" are someone's "wrongs", so be it. We will keep saying it without hesitation and fear. Sorry that we don't have Chinese mentality. We go on path which is straight and honoroble.

Good for you, we don't really care if you like to go on fighting others. I take back my word.

I thought Egypt used to be the undisputed leader in Muslim world fighting against Israel, what's the beef it has with Turkey?
Turkey is the biggest supporter of Muslim brotherhood and Sisi biggest opposition is/was the Muslim brotherhood. It's also because of Turkey backing Muslim brotherhood that Assad and Erdogan don't see eye to eye, since Muslim brotherhood affiliated groups were the main opposition party to Assad's rule and they were the ones who basically started the Syrian revolution leading to the current civil war as Assad tried to crack down on them.
So it's a complex situation of power play and interests .

Saudi, UAE, Egypt vs Iran, Qatar, turkey
True, but I will remove Iran from the equation. Since it's not so simple. Iran doesn't get along with Muslim brotherhood per se. Since Iran has basically been fighting the muslim brotherhood affiliated groups in Syria. To them the Muslim brotherhood could also be considered terrorists in this regard lol. Just like the way Assad views them. So it all depends on who you ask or if your interests conflict or converge. The middle East is a complex one but quite interesting when you get to dwell into it and research the inner workings of the geo political struggle going on there.

Muslim brotherhood is divided.
I don't think they really believe in democracy thou they are exploiting democracy.

We will see more of such provocative threads because this troll's ban has expired. It won't take long to get back into the hole where he come out.
Considering that this is official words, it is called news. I don't see any provocation at all. Even if you don't like it, it is the reality

Sad.

Muslims fight muslims and shitty israel rules the arabs
There is no such things as Muslims fighting against each other. It's just human beings fighting against each other like it has been the case since the beginning of times. Human beings have always been greedy, for money and power. As long as we inhabit earth it will be the case. Muslim or not doesn't matter and makes no difference. So you shouldn't look at it from a religious perspective. These leaders and actors just use religion to further their interests, justify their actions as legitimate, gain more power & influence, since they know people in the region are easily swayed by religion. Only naive and emotional people fall for that cheap trick. Lol

egypt never was a leader in that department.
Egypt was considered strongest Arab nation in 1940-50s. Due to large population of Egypt compared to other Arab nations, fertile Nile river basin giving it food security and located at key place of Suez canal, Egypt had significant strength.

But due to overpopulation and food scarcity caused by it, Egypt is now a beggar state that depends on foreign food supply for survival. Egypt imports 60% of its grains as if now and is not capable of existing independently. This has resulted in Egypt being a dependent state and relies on foreign aid for survival.

Economy is dependent on Aid
It is not just economy but food supply. Egypt can't even go the path of North Korea as a result of this. North Korea had enough water and farmland to grow its food whereas Egypt doesn't.

Egypt importing 60% of its grains is a major source of problem. Any food import restrictions will result in Egyptian population going down from current 100 million to 40 million and probably even lower to 20 million if there is civil war for survival of the fittest.

During Morsi's time, Egyptian foreign exchange reserves started dwindling as aid from foreign countries started slowing down. This is what made Morsi backtrack on his promises to establish Islamic state and the root cause for Morsi being opposed by the Egyptian opposition and even clerics.

It's abundantly clear that Turkey is trying to be the de facto leader of Muslim countries. It's trying to reestablish its role during the Ottoman Empire. This is why the Arab world views Turkey with great suspicion. What will Pakistan do? Side with brotherly nation Turkey or side with the Saudis and other Arab countries. It has to walk a tight line.
