Turkey has strong Armed Forces but only thing, it's depend too much on U.S. and Nato....as like Pakistan is trying to be selfsufficient we 2 Muslim brother countries can do much more together in every sector from economic to defence.

Bro, Current national contribution pay of Turkish defence industry in Turkish army is %45 and According to authorities, That rate will be increased up to %75 until 2018-2020... By the way there are 230 projects that Turkish SSM is trying to manage for Turkish army... % 80 of that projects are indigenous projects which is included Altay Tank, Atak Helicopter, Anti-Tank missiles, Trainer airdrafts Hurkus, TIHA Male Armed-surveillance UAV's, National Milgem Corvettes, TF-2000AAW frigates, TF-100 multi purpose frigates, National assault boats, S&R vessels, FAC's, Torpedo, Air defence missile systems, National software networks, APC's, MRAP's, Trucks, Many radar projects which is planning to develop 5 different type air defence missile radars only in Aselsan institues including phrased array one for AAW frigates...
But As you said that future aircrafts of Turkey will be depended on USA... Turkey is a partner of F-35 project but USA will not give sourcecodes of those planes to any partner... Sourcecodes of all 214+30 F-16's + more than 100 F-4's are belong to Turkey but F-35's will not...
