London transport packed on day 1 of UK's coronavirus lockdown
London tube and train services were packed with commuters on Tuesday morning despite the government announcing a nationwide lockdown on Monday evening. Mayor Sadiq Khan urged people to stop non-essential travel so critical workers, like medical staff, could get to work. However many self-employed construction workers say their employers have told them it's 'business as usual' and are using public transport for fear of losing their jobs.

It's the employers who are at fault, trust me, this people wouldn't be out, risking to get infected with the chinese virus.

Please can we take the "Chinese virus" accusation out as we do not know for sure yet?

As for the employers, it is the government that is at fault for not being decisive enough - they should have already thought about this and FORBIDDEN any employer(apart from already defined essential employers) to open today without explicit calling a fully manned government hotline who would have given them authorisation to open.
Of course those like pubs, bars, cinemas, gyms, clothes shop etc will already be aware that they are explicitly forbidden from opening.

If it takes 1-2 days for these companies to get through to get authorisation then so be it.

UK needs to reduce the speed of it's economic engine to the most basic essentials and where companies can function with their workforce working remotely.

Let's not quibble over little things.....It came from China, the US president calls it that way, it's alright to call it that....

Rigghhhhhht.[/QUOTE

It's ok,it comes from China....let's not skirt around it

The same case here in Jakarta...

I think construction workers are less prone to coronavirus.

Because it's a job with less social contact and mostly outdoor.

And there's a deadline.

Actually what happens in London is the same here in Jakarta.

Psychological everywhere is the same, so it's no coincidence that people have the same thought and do the same.

He backtracked this claim just like what he did numerous in the past, such as this virus was no more than a common cold or the flu.

Why is it Employers fault? They cannot run their Businesses by paying salaries for no work. It is the government's fault.

This is by no means a lockdown, Wuhan subway and all modes of public transport were closed over 2 months.

UK lockdown: Commuters continue to pack platforms a week on

Everything happens for a reason. Now everyone is fleeing

London's St Pancras station packed as travellers flee tier 4 restrictions on Saturday

Honestly no one should've followed your countries unnecessary lockdown

Instead of nations coming up with their own strategies, they decided to copy China
