Economic Development in Azerbaijan

Thank you for the thread, and no disrespect but how are these buildings connected to "economic development"? I know they are buildings of state corporations, but it can be explained by the fact that it's probably a good execuse to spend (and steal) some of oil money on decorating the city.

How so? How many people works on it? And the work on them is not permanent but temporarily.

I can understand SOCAR (which has emerged as a big and important oil company) but I'm not sure if those other corporations need these buildings to be honest

I am not talking about construction jobs , I am talking about permanent jobs in the towers

Well said ASQ. I'm more interested in facts like how non-Gas economy is going etc.

Those towers can still drive an economy... they may be used by IT companies for example... imagine a tower full of software developers :) it's technically production even though there isn't a physical product

This new cargo plan would be a new Silk Road, and it can give us a lot of money for transit. :tup:

plant for the production of steel pipes of the “Azertechnoline” Limited Liability Company

The diameter of the pipes to be produced at the plant will range from 400 to 2,000 mm, thickness from 6 to 25 mm and length from 6 to 16 meters according to the needs. The plant has two lines for the production of spiral pipes. They are expected to produce 75,000 tons of steel pipes of different diameters, 60,000 tons of hydro-technical equipment of various diameters resistant to high pressure and 12,000 tons of polyethylene pipes of different diameters every year. The enterprise covering an area of 27,000 square meters operates modern equipment manufactured in America, Germany and Turkey. The plant's products will enable high-level transportation of Azerbaijani natural gas and water.

first contract from Russia for 10 crew boats 2nd contract from BP for $450mil
3rd contract for construction of a rig for $750mil

It was indicated that the enterprise covers an area of 620,000 square meters. A quayside 1,630 meters in length, a five-storey office building, a training center, various offices and warehouses, workshops, a repair yard, a canteen, a first-aid station, a compressor building and a substation to ensure reliable power supply of the plant have been built on the premises.

It was mentioned that the production capacity of the plant is 25,000 tons of steel structures a year. Theenterprise, unique for the Caspian Sea basin, is capable of producing four 15,000-ton tankers, two 70,000-tontankersand four supply vessels each year. It can alsoconduct repairs of 80-100 vessels of different profiles. In parallel with the construction of the plant, the longest floating dry dockin the Caspian Sea, which is highly important for the operation of the plant, has been built as well. As part of the second phase of the construction project there areplans to build a new dry dock, an additional production workshop and a bridge area.

creation of 500 jobs and The plant will manufacture 1,815,000 square meters of floor slabs, 1,798,000 square meters of facing slabs and 165,000 linear meters of decorative slabs per year. In the near future, the enterprise will manufacture slabs of all sizes in accordance with demand.
