The UMV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) that flew on July 17 over northern Israel was a “Yasir’ drone made in Iran that was launched from a Hizballah base in Syria’s Qalamoun Mountains, some 60km from central Golan. This is reported by debkafile military and intelligence sources.
The Yaasir can reach an altitude of 5,000 feet, operate in a 200km radius and stay aloft for 8 hours.
There is no information as to whether it was launched by a Iranian or a Hizballah team.
This UMV displayed exceptional maneuverability, unlike most drones, due it is believed to the advanced US electronic systems installed by reverse engineering of the American US ScanEagle drone that was downed intact over Iran on Dec. 17, 2012.
Our military and intelligence sources say this fundamental upgrade was carried out under the instruction of Chinese cyber warfare specialists.
The IDF, the Israeli air force and other western armies, including the US Air Force, are anxiously trying to find out how many replicas of the purloined US ScanEagle the Iranians have been able to manufacture.
They all watched the Iranian drone’s performance in evading Israeli air force jets and helicopters and ducking air-to-air missiles and Patriot surface-to-aircraft missiles before flying back to Syria after spending the best part of an hour over the Golan and Upper Galilee.

Israel on Sunday fired missiles towards an unmanned drone that entered Israeli airspace from Syria, the IDF said in a statement.



"Two Patriot air defense missiles were fired towards a drone that infiltrated Israeli airspace in the central Golan Heights. The drone returned to Syria," the statement said.



Both Patriot missiles failed to intercept the drone, with shrapnel from one of them landing in Kibbutz Ayelet Hashahar and lightly wounding a 14-year-old girl. The girl was evacuated to Ziv Medical Center in Safed for treatment.





An air raid siren was heard in the Golan region immediately before the Patriot missiles were fired. Fighter jets were also reportedly sent to shoot down the drone with an air-to-air missile, but also failed to hit the target.



The drone returned to Syria before it could be identified. Security forces do not know how much time it spent over Israeli territory. An investigation into the incident has been launched.



Israel has avoided taking sides in the Syrian civil war, though Israeli troops have responded to occasional mortar fire that landed in the Golan.



A Syrian rebel source in the area said the Syrian army had launched a rare air raid on al-Shajara village along the border. The village, which is also close to the Israeli frontier, is held by the Shuhada al-Yarmouk group, thought to be Islamic State affiliates.



Israel has shot down Syrian aircraft in the past. In two incidents in 2014, it brought down a Syrian drone and a fighter jet that had entered its airspace.



Anis Nakash, an official associated with Hezbollah, told Arab media outlets that Hezbollah had sent the drone "to test the alertness of the Israeli military," according to researcher Yossi Mansharof of the Ezri Center for Iran and Persian Gulf Studies at the University of Haifa.

Hate is a strong word. We have something we Iranian's call "kal kal" which is hard to explain in English. And no, these days, Saudis seem to be best buddies with Israel.

How big do you think a Shahb III war head is? Not much bigger and it travels at Mach 6. How can Patriot system hit that if it can't deal with a drone which is cruising at 120 Km/h max?
