DRDO to be part of Future Ready Combat Vehicle project: Army

Given the past performance of DRDO on indigenously develop in Arjun or Tejas... this would in files or be ready in 2050 as well said above. No to get the thing done they need to bring in either Israel IAI or Russia... remember the successful Brahmos or FGFA or Barak projects :)

.
Will it mean the procurement of the FRCV will also hit snags not that DROD will be involved?
Also will it serve the actual reason the army is trying to go for imported FRCV? that is accordingly to most of the posters here kick backs and commission? now with DRDO involved will that goal be accomplished?

.
As i mentioned in an other thread locally manufactured weapons dis't offer kick backs so no wonder anything DRDO produce will ever inducted.

Have you seen a tank which will hover and be able to change track to tire with a speed of 180 km and at the same time track an A-10 with a radar and launch an SAM? This would have been the requirement if DRDO was designing.

Now, the requirement is simply "Tank". Wait for the show. Its just starting. I hope, sincerely, they start a design section which will work with industry. Like the Navy.

bahi i was asking "will it serve the actual reason the army is trying to go for imported FRCV? that is, accordingly to most of the posters here kick backs and commission? now with DRDO involved will that goal be accomplished?"

Anyway, leave it.

So who do you think are the contenders?

salaam TT sirji :D

thing is when ever it is a congress ruled india its a merry making time for corrupt politicians , beurocrats and middlemen/dalaals

same was the case with ARMY they were happy to give big orders of T-90 when UPA was in rule as all parties got there "deu" indian tax payer be damned

now ever since the new goverment has come all there such plans are going down the drain one after the another and in this recent controversy and the future assult rifle things dint go as per plan for them so they are creating controvery after another just to pressurise indian PMO & MOD thats all :coffee:

W/Sallam,
:)
So what you are saying is that even with DRDO involved the main goal will be achieved and the army will get its kick back?
or
You are saying that Modi have transformed army and they are not looking for kick backs anymore?

Btw, DRDO is not responsible for production. Its the design agency. The kick backs is in the production and maintenance.

Personally, I do not thing its 'just' about kick backs and commissions. The problem lies in the Army not taking responsibility of managing the project. The DRDO will be involved in any and all defence projects in India. They will probably transfer the tech to the private player. The private player will then work with an international partner.

Till now only the Tatas have responded. And they have a history of working closely with the DRDO.

Oky so that way army wont have much objection to inclusion of DROD in the project. Even with DRDO involved, if the production is done independently they will get there chance to earn the money.

So it means that the actual goal will be accomplished. Anyway, i do not think that kick back and commission will be the only reason Indian army want foreign equipment, there must be some technological advantage as well.

you got it corrupt indian army generals and MOD baboons and middle men have lost there value since naMo sarkaar came as he has clear cut agenda "na khataa hoo na kissi ko khanne doonga" now thats the main reason why these corrupt top beurocrats and army and airforces generals and there middle men and their media stooges are running like head less chicken and creating one new conspiracy and controversy after another

arjun could have been in large numbers in IA by now had army delliberatelli not sabotaged it so much so DRDO had to bring third party auditors in arjuns MK1slast tests and still they yet again raised the bar and streched the goal posts a little further but this time they are not getting the support from where the real decissions are taken

Ahhaan,,
I understand,, the Modi have transformed the army and they are not going after the kick back and commissions anymore, that is great news for India.

But dear, If that is the case then why go for foreign equipment? as per many members here the ONLY reason to go for foreign equipment was to get commissions otherwise DRDO indigenous technology is even better then what the export suppliers have to offer. Also while Modi gov. have effectively somehow cured the corruption issue in Indian army as you suggest why don't get the army to induct Arjun directly? The reason, as you state, for Arjun not getting inducted was primarily the hunger to earn commission in foreign deal right? so now that Modi have transformed all that i guess he will also get Arjun selected, i suppose the technology involved and other key specs of this tank are better or at least on par with anything else available in the market as you suggest.

What is required is for the Army to setup a dedicated design bureau which works with the design and production partners. Also, they need to plan their requirements and upgrade via tranches. The Navy does this, the IAF has started. The IA needs to be kicked into doing this. But, this involves commitment and responsibility. The DRDO should be limited to working on techs and transferring them to production partners, which cannot be procured from elsewhere.

your wrong in assesing the situtation

where did i said NaMo has transformed the army or thinking of corrupt beurocrats in MOD & army ? old habits die hard

we were making chieftain/vijyanta , T72 & T90 tanks under TOT for many decades now but aLL THE attempts to make a potent wepons platform were shot down (Tank EX/arjuns turret & electroniks of T72 chassis )

need i say more

mmm well it will be helpful if you can explain it, i cannot understand what you are saying in this last post.

Look you say that this new gov is hard dealing the corruption issues and that is why the assault rifle etc things were scrapped because the primary reason of there selection was kick backs and corruption/commission of Indian generals. Now if that is the thing, why look for imported FRCV? specially considering that the Arjun and others you have mentioned that you have been making for decades are among the worlds best equipment.

To put it simple, from the posts here and on countless other threads, i understand that the Arjun was failed because even though it is of far superior tech but induction these was not going to pay of the Indian army generals in commission. So now with gov acting to put an end to this corruption, i guess it will make sense if India finally goes ahead with the Arjun project instead of looking for relatively inferior or equally capable tech from export market.

anyway,, maati paao yaar, i guess things will clear up once it is finalized in a few years.

you are right on target bro but this time it wont take years as we dont have that luxury anymore

what i said in last part was indian tank making facility was making vijyanta tanks , T-55, 72 & 90 under TOT for long and when IA found Arjun MK1 too heavt DRDO guys quicklii made a prototype tank called TANK EX/Karna which was made on a chassis of T72 with Arjun's turret and other nightvision/electronick war fare equipment but IA yet again shot it down as they were "not satisfied" with it but gave clearence to T90 when it failed some very crucial parameteres by lowering the requirements
