Then the treaty is not fair if does not take into account the total availability of water and define percentage allowed for use. Tomorrow due to global warming say the total river flow falls below 1,345,000 cusecs, will India be allowed to sap off all of this water with none flowing to Pak, while technically still remaining within the allowed limits?

Get your point. If its a continuing decreasing trend, then the treaty must be revisited. However the scenario could be reversed if the glaciers start melting at a faster rate or due to rains the water flow increases. Would Pakistan then be ready for an increase in India's water usage if that happens?

Without going into technicalities of the indus water treaty etc.

I think it is high time that people of India and Pakistan take climate change very seriously.

The Himalayan glaciers have been a source of water for the subcontinent but so are the RAINS.

Unless we can invest in awareness and can launch massive plantation
exercises people on both sides of the border will suffer.

I would request all members who read this post to please spread awareness, and plan for some sort of people to people contact which
can save us all.

I don't know all the details, but a revision of the treaty to allow a % share of available water sounds fair.

However unsubstantiated blame game will not help YOUR cause. It suits ours.

Agreed their are more then 90% chances of war. And it might also be a Nuclear.

I would say chances of war exist, is all because no morale help is coming from India, Instead India is letting down Pak in every international platform and using its influence to tow India lines. If India wouldn't realize the political and economical misery, then a nation who already losing everything has no choice, just to grab its share with power....hope we all got point, where any limited standoff never happened.

If Pakistan is already torn by poor economy and unstable political systems, how its possible for a war to heal those wounds. Is there anything to gain from war other than unimaginable damages which will only lead any country in to more instability.

In this type of situation, army comes inn. Which India is not realizing. Unfortunately Pak army is always stronger then political system of the country. That's what Pak and Indian media used to say during Musharraf era, what India can achieve now may be won't able to achieve in next few decades. But again India lost the chance of peace.
