I can help you with pics and info of few of these inventions.(DRDO Techfocus)

1. Sea bed Array SONAR (Indian SOSUS)

Seabed arrays are off-board passive sonars, which can be
deployed on the seabed for monitoring submarines.

A seabed system with capability to detect multiple targets around 360 , has been developed and proven for performance. Multiple-arrays deployed with appropriate spatial separation will facilitate the passive range estimation of the target too.:sniper:

The system consists of multiple linear hydrophone arrays with a data
acquisition system. The data can be transferred to a processing station at the coast.

Solid Linear Acoustic Sensor (SOLASE) array

SOLASE is a polymer based monolithic flexible solid structure that embeds the sensors and allied electronics. It is a multi-channel linear passive acoustic receiver array and offers improved underwater surveillance capability through a new design of premoulded hydrophones, preamplifier PCB, and power supply unit which are assembled on a Kevlar strengthmember that runs through the entire length of the array in a closed loop.:yahoo:


In short this sensor is a tough, leak proof polymer tube which contains all the equipment necessary for the passive SONAR and is better than the earlier comparable systems.

I think we can see the glimpse of Helina in Aero India 2011. Its really great that DRDO is working now. Also the work on Arjun MKII and development of few new technology will also put us ahead on FMBT projects.

2.Active Protection System (for Arjun) Warhead Based on EXPLOSIVELY FORMED PROJECTILE (EFP)

( From the paper by Sarbjit Singh, TBRL, Chandigarh, dss 2010)


In short, this warhead works like a shotgun shell , forming a circle of 6-7 jets of molten metal travelling @ mach 6, destroying the incoming ATGM.





DETAILS:


TBRL have developed a multi EFP based warhead for APS. Such a warhead with suitable detection system mounted on MBTs, command control bunkers and important installations provides protection from antitank rockets/missiles including
top-attack Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM).


The detection system incorporates the solutions for use of multi-functional millimeter radar with “instant” scanning of all protected sector to detect and track antitank targets.

Protective ammunition is housed in silo sections arranged around the turret.


A systematic study for development of multi EFP based warhead capable of destroying incoming Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) at a safe distance of 20-30m from the intended target has been carried out.

A warhead of 190mm diameter has been designed using 7 numbersof liners of 45 mm diameter.

All seven liners were formed into EFPs which perforated 10mm mild steel target plate kept at 5 m distance. A total number of seven holes were recorded on the target within 550mm scatter.

Best Development is Indian SOSUS in making..I have always advocated installing Listening Ports..This is way better than that...

I like that Active protection System which would be Installed on Arjun MBT.... looking forward for it, If successful Arjun MBT would stay Immortal in the Battlefield

Sorry for being the party-pooper;

But I dont think SOSUS will be of great help in the Western theatre.Because these things are effective (or economical) only if laid in places like straits or relatively narrow water bodies which act as choke-points.

For example the SOSUS by US was laid in the GIUK (Greenland-Iceland-UK) gap through which only the Soviet Northern Fleet had to pass through if it had to reach the Atlantic ocean.

Comparitively where can we lay the SOSUS for tracking the PN ? Surely IN is not planning to lay it along the entire Western coast.

But on the Eastern Front,these things if installed in the Malacca and the Sunda straits (maybe) will be a game changer

Helina is an excellent development a 7 km range IIR seeking ATGM will greatly improve India's anti-armor capability.

An active radar seeker, for AD mission, has been developed and tested for acceptance

Some new staff for BMD! Most possibly for AD-1/AD-2. Because PDV got IIR seeker. AAD has Ka-band active radar seeker similar to PAC-III and PAD also has ARS.

Or Akash mk2?

Integration and field testing of country’s first indigenous active array radar

LRTR-2? or AWACS? Most possibly LRTR-2. Because the AWACS radar is not integrated so far.

The achievements of Naval group of laboratories
include

1.Successful technical trials of the Advanced
Torpedo Defence System (ATDS) – Mareech.


2.Successful demonstration of Sea Bed Array Sonar
for detection of submarine in littoral water.

3.System development of Ship-launched Heavy Weight
Torpedo.


4. Realisation of Air Independent Energy module under Fuel Cell Programme.

5.Induction of Varuna EW system.

These are the coolest staff. SBAS is a huge development in the area of sonar technology. Fuel cell based AIP is also an important technology.

Bold four are very important for future warfare including netcentric and mobile sensors.

1. Mobile Camouflage System (MCS) :
As part of the project ‘Development of Defensive Aids System’, the MCS has been developed, integrated in MBT Arjun and conducted the performance Evaluation Trial.

2. Advanced Laser Warning Countermeasure System (ALWCS) :
First prototype of the Interface box for Fire Control System with Advanced LWCS has been developed and demonstrated. Verification Test on interfacing of ALWCS with Integrated Fire Control System has been carried out. ALWCS has been integrated on MBT Arjun and Limited Performance Evaluation and integrity trials completed.


3. Ammunition for MBT Arjun :
In ARDE, Pune, twenty nos of 120 mm Ordnances and 32 nos of 120 mm recoil system sets have been manufactured, proved successfully and issued to HVF Chennai for mounting on production Tanks. The order for 124 Sets of Recoil System has been completed.

4. Multi-spectral Camouflage Coatings :
The coatings of multispectral camouflage paints have been found to provide highly effective camouflaging both in visible-near infrared and thermal infrared regions when tested on BMP-2 by using thermal systems as well as Long Range Infrared Surveillance system from the Army.

5. Indigenous ERA (explosive reactive armour) developed.

6. Shaped charge warheads for the Active protection system for Arjun successfully tested!

7.Fiber Optic Gyro (FOG) :
An indigenous Fiber Gyro based 2 axis Sensor Package Unit has also been indigenously developed and fitted in Main Battle Tank, Arjun and passed field trials.


8.MBT Arjun Simulator :
Comprising of Driving Simulator and Turret Simulator. Three MBT Arjun simulators are being developed and integrated for troop level training.

Most of the technologies are developed!!! thats why...

Arjun mk-II will be ready for summer and winter trials this year. :bounce::bounce::bounce:



Seems like they have put more and more attention on protection against new threats and sensors.

Do you think that devices like SOSUS will be laid along whole stretches of coastline?
That is neither necessary nor desirable. Any attempt to that will be analogous to putting a layer of AD guns and missiles all along the the Indo-Pak border.

Devices like this will be used keeping in mind hydrographic and bathymetric contours and features and in conjunction with other modern systems such as SURTASS and Air-borne assets; and will in fact be area based or in some cases point based. And that is sufficient. i must point out that the Wikipedia article describes the SOSUS sytem from inception (ca. 1949). AFAIK, little of that large-scale array system is operational now; simply because it is not necessary now. Other systems are net-worked in now.

BTW, earlier analogues of this system were deployed and tested in offshore areas from 90s. It is an evolving 'work in progress' with newer generations.

Actually I am not a military pro and I was just pointing out the in-feasiblity w.r.t how it was utilised by the US in the past.

If they (Naval TTs) have some definite strategy, I am all for it.
