Those records of my immediate genealogy on both sides goes that goes mere 10 generations back, and of its other inheritors, are with me - I have memorized it - a must when we enter adulthood. Whenever I want to find my genealogy further back, I can always get it from my purohit in Kashi. All of my ancestors' visitations have been recorded there for thousands of years. Yes - thousands of years - do not be surprised simply because you don't see such things in other cultures. We are already in the process of digitizing it, and one of the families has dedicated itself to the preservation of the records, leaving the job of priesthood and scholarship to other families.

Believe it or not, but many institutions in the US too have begun to digitize similar genealogical records of many other families, although the original records, howsoever tattered, will always be with the purohit of any particular family.

So simply because you do not encounter any people around you who are aware of their lineage, but encounter only those who are at loss of their ancestry, does not mean all others are like that.

My family has been the follower of Shri Bodhayana (author of Sulba-Sutra), and subsequently of Shri Shankaracharya, and of Shri Ramanujacharya. So I am fully aware what Vedantic "philosophy" I am supposed to follow to rid of the debt of a beautiful life and knowledge bestowed upon us by our Acharyas.

I not once claimed to be a Brahmin, but yes, I am born into the family of Brahmins. But hey, I am glad they told you some stories so you could find some solace.

Both Islam and Christianity are aggressive converting religions.
If the Ahmadis are officially declared as non-muslims by your constitution i don't see the need to go after them as them converting others to Ahmadi sect is invalid.

I have said it before and again saying that no religion is bad. No religion say to kill people of other religion, caste, color or whatever. So, don't blame religion but religious leaders.
Ahmadis were declared non-muslims by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. It was the worst thing we did to them. Now, people can easily manipulate minds of people and use it against them. That is why, most of the Ahmadis I knews have been migrated to Germany because Germany seems more tolerant to them than us.

It is high time to realise that basic teaching of Islam is humanity and peace. Even the religion clearly says that for you, your belief and for me, mine and words to that effect. One should not interfere in others religion. Let peace prevail in the country and world.

Not only Islam, every other religion (Christianity, Jew, Hinduism) teach about peace and tolerance toward others.
