This will help get him greater recognition and will also inspire others to follow in his footsteps since Pakistan desperately needs advancements in our scientific researches and to do that we need budgets and man power. Let's have one thing at least. :p

This will also help combat the stigma that has been attached to him. He was the hero of pakistan and brought great honor to pakistan ( far far greater honor than those that bad mouth of him).

ISLAMABAD – Honoring the services of overlooked Pakistani hero and Nobel laureate, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved renaming National Centre for Physics at Quaid-i-Azam University as ‘Professor Abdus Salam Center for Physics’.

The PM has directed Ministry of Federal Education and Professional to put up a formal summary in this regard for further approval by the President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain.

Apart from renaming, the Premier has also given go ahead for granting five (5) fellowships annually to Pakistani students for PhD in the field of Physics through Higher Education Commission in reputed international universities.

The fellowship program is named as ‘Professor Abdus Salam Fellowship’.

The PM has taken this decision in recognition of the great contributions of renowned Pakistani physicist Dr Mohammad Abdus Salam who is a major stalwart in the 20th-century theoretical physics and also shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Dr. Abdus Salam was the first Pakistani to receive a Nobel Prize in science and the second from an Islamic country to receive any Nobel Prize. His remarkable achievement earned fame and prestige for the country which rightly deserves to be valued.

He was not only a creme de le creme Physicist but he also served the country as a top level science advisor to the Government of Pakistan from 1960 to 1974during which he utilized his skills to revamp the infrastructure of science in the country.

In 1998, following the country’s nuclear tests, the Government of Pakistan under the premiership of Nawaz Sharif issued a commemorative stamp, as a part of “Scientists of Pakistan”, to laud the matchless services of Dr. Salam.

Renaming the National Centre for Physics as Dr. Adbus Salam’s Centre for Physics would be another step towards honoring the Pakistani scientist who served the country and brought a good name for Pakistan.

This is where the problem actually lies my friend. There are many allegation on him for using his official positions and scientific achievements for personal and religious motives. He was a deeply religious person having strong influential links with Qagyani leadership. Pakistan did not send him to exile but he left the country when the law was passed to declare Qadyanis what they are.

His only role was related to the enriching of Uranium , there were 1000's of scientists who worked in the atomic bomb process but we never hear about him..

He achieved in field of physics no body can deny that but on the other hand reality is he was not Muslim. Still that won't decrease his achievement in field of physics. Still it could create some law and order situation and increase security risks for Quaid e Azam university.

Lol, any person with the knowledge of nuclear science and technology will tell you that Uranium enrichment is actually the only step involved in achieving the manufacturing of a nuclear device. There were hundreds and thousands of other scientist involved in the project but had we not achieved the Uranium enrichment technology, never would we have been able to acquire a self-dependent nuclear program. From nuclear devices to nuclear power plants, even Karachi nuclear plant, every single project owes its debt of existence to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

Coming to the point of work of Dr Abdul Salam, the noble prize was actually given to three scientists in which he was one. So his work was also shared and who knows to what extant he actually contributed and how much blessing were bestowed upon him by Zionist masters as the two (or atleast one) other scientists were jews.

He was a scientist not a political or Military leader, any step or any work done by him would never have been without the approval of the government. And today we are not like Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan because the Almighty blessed us with the person like Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
