Don’t be surprised by China’s collapse

.
Easy.

AI Robot + human.

China will cut 240 million job due to AI robot, about 200 million manpower from the cut off partially can be diverted to work as helper for elderly. Some can be diverted to work as technician / operator (through training), some can be diverted as scientist and engineer (through further education).

When one warns of China's "demographic disaster", as in by 2080, Chinese population will be down to 1 billion, the question should really be, would there even be 1 billion potential jobs available worldwide by then.

It's not your prediction, it's your wish.

I suggest you fly to Rome, Italy and take a taxi to Fontana diTrevi. you will see a lot of people throwing coins into the pools. You can take your clothes off and jump in the pool for a bath.

@gambit said: 20 - 40 year consumer will consume the highest; it is not necessarily true. above 40 yo will also need to replace their aging/damaged TV/refrigerator/ washing machine, renovate their houses, even buy new clothes, as long as they still have "buying power".
Yah...It is called 'maintenance of life' and that is all there is for this group and older.

What you do not understand is that the 20-40 yrs old group is supposed to be the largest of the consumption groups and this group is declining in China.

...what really matters for the economy is not China’s total population, but the age structure of that population. Specifically, how much of China’s population will be working age? How many will be young workers aged 20-40, whose productivity generally rises rapidly with experience, as opposed to workers over 40, whose productivity has generally plateaued? And how many seniors (age 65+) will the working-age population have to support?
In the 20-40 yrs old group, discarding and buying is the greatest as each person struggles to find what is best for himself/herself. Nothing wrong with that. It is known that the first car you own is usually not the right car for you. Neither is the first apartment you live in. Neither is the first suit you bought. And so on and on. The 20-40 yrs old group make generally make less money, on an individual basis, than people in older groups, but the younger also tends to change tastes more often. It does not matter if the quality of the items they bought are cheap and cheap, the point is that they change which mean higher consumption rate. Older people make more money so the things they buy tends to be higher quality which lasts longer => less cycle time => lower consumption. If the 20-40 yrs old group is declining, and they are in China, then all that churning of money inside this group does not matter.
