Does India Qualify For UNSC Special Status?Poll

Do You Agree India Qualify For UNSC Special Status

So India should be represented, but the vast populations in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and SE Asia should not be?

And if we give permanent seats by country population, then the entire UNSC would be composed of developing countries.

Which are not actually more powerful than the developed countries, and lack the economic/military/diplomatic influence to actually do the job of the UNSC.

Power projection and economic strength is currently dominated almost entirely by developed countries. USA + EU alone make up more GDP and military power than the rest of the world combined.

India is 9th largest economy in world, A Rising Power and Regional Super Power, A ICBM power, A Deep Space Power, has world's Second Largest Army and represents 1/6th humanity.

And she continoues to grow in every sphere of National Power.

India deserves Permanant UNSC seat with Veto Power, it will not get it easily, thats assured.

Why would the current P5 members benefit from giving veto power to 5 more countries (G4 + 1)?

It's all about national interests. Why would we benefit from India having veto power?

Apart from making decision making in the UNSC even more impossible than it currently is.

But if India continoues to grow as Economic Power and Military Power, it will be hard for UNSC to ignore us.

What we need is GDP more than 3 Trillion Dollars, a Robust Military Industrial base,A large Manufacturing Base, Better Foreign Policies and ICBMs with more than 8,000 KM Range.

When we acheive all this, sooner or later we will get the seat.

The other, though very distant possibility, is Britain losing its Seat, and India getting it.

If you can replace Britain then go for it, Britain is an American vote anyway.

Not in the near future no.. I'm for replacing the SC not expanding it.. China is already a representative of the region.. Would like to see someone like Brazil to replace Britain or France.. I do not see Africa having anybody with significant to represent them

Everyone saw Modi hugging Obama just now, as well as all the US-India defence deals, how do the Russians know India won't vote against them one day? Opinion polls show Indians are overwhelmingly positive towards America, for example.

We also saw Modi hugging Abe but Modi did not hug Xi Jinping.

No offense to the Chinese here, but Xi does come across as a bit stern and distant.

And @Chinese-Dragon has toed the official Chinese line on the UNSC.

Torn as he is between his obvious Dharmic lean and his Chinese CCP geopolitical reality.

He's abstained from the vote ..... :)

Nope. India lacks an independent foreign policy to be given UNSC membership. Giving India a seat will be giving another vote for the US.

As I mentioned earlier countries like China became more powerful only after it joined P5.
That was then. And even then, not many countries had power to match the P5, most were European colonies.

And why do you think P5 countries 've always collectively and steadfastly refused to reform the voting system??/
It is because the veto gives each with privileges too great to rescind, they do not even consider the detrimental effect their veto has on the UN’s efficiency or the consequences it has on innocents caught up in mass atrocities.
Am I wrong?
So its the veto power which bestows more power on 'em.
I am not denying it. It is a great power, which they don't want to share. That is because they have strength to protect their position. India doesn't. It lags behind in all aspects to many countries. Besides, its influence as well as concerns aren't global but regional.
