Does India need 8,000 Km Range missile?

Situation changes in 3 years. I want to know fresh opinons of members regarding OP.
Yes, we have.

But again its a question of Payload vs Range,, and how much RV Mk.5 is heavy?

There are multiple opinions on weight of Mk5. Till date I have come across 3 figures of mk5 weights. 450 kg, 340 kg and even 250 kg in some articles in past( all for 200kt thermonuclear warhead). pick your figure.

We need a 12,000 Km SLBM and a 15,000 Km ICBM with MIRV.

What will we do with 8,000 Km IRBM?

This might sound as an overstatement, but it is for a future insurance policy.

Just in case.

We all can see how much the political environment has changed since 2013 internationally.

Who knows how it will change in the coming years?

The ability to have a global strike capability with multiple megaton category nuclear warheads is a must have for us at this stage.

If the weight of Mk.5 is in between 250kg to 500kg, then definitely yes bro, we have 8000 Km ICBM.

Focus on MIRV.

Russia has sold China S-400 and that is a agni killer

We doesnt need anymore 8000+ KM ground based ICBM, but 6000-8000 KM SLBM.

Thats why we are working on Agni 6.

Agni 5 will definitely have Counter measures for this.

For older S-300 it may have counter measures.

Not S-400

MIRV however can make S-400 capability little less. Less chance of intercepting multiple active warheads than intercepting 1 big fat missile.

Waste of time and money, indo pak governments should think about the peoples of sub continent
