Does anyone watch TV Series "Homeland" here?

Dont like NCIS LA either.. I started liking terra nova, but they pulled it off after season 1 :(

Common Law was also a great new show cancelled after season 1. :(

Pakistani officials furious over ‘Homeland’

Claire Danes is lucky no Emmy voters live in Islamabad.

Pakistani officials are furious with Showtime after watching the fourth season of its hit show “Homeland,” which they say portrays their country as an ugly, ignorant, terror-plagued “hellhole.”

The diplomats took copious notes of every slight while binge-watching all 12 episodes — including the lack of greenery in the depiction of the nation’s capital, Islamabad.

They complained directly to producers of the Emmy-winning drama, but their gripes fell on deaf ears, Pakistani sources said.

“Maligning a country that has been a close partner and ally of the US . . . is a disservice not only to the security interests of the US but also to the people of the US,” Pakistan Embassy spokesman Nadeem Hotiana told The Post.

One of their beefs is that the show — which stars Danes as CIA Agent Carrie Mathison on assignment in Pakistan — trashed a diplomat’s image of the capital as a bucolic oasis.

“Islamabad is a quiet, picturesque city with beautiful mountains and lush greenery,” one source said. “In ‘Homeland,’ it’s portrayed as a grimy hellhole and war zone where shootouts and bombs go off with dead bodies scattered around. Nothing is further from the truth.”

The cable show’s “Islamabad” scenes were actually filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.

Pakistani diplomats also called out the show’s producers for misrepresenting their language.

“The Pakistani characters portrayed in the show speak English like Americans would,” a source said. “Also, when the characters in the show speak Urdu, the accent is far from the local accent.

“And the connotations of some of the Urdu words that are used are out of place.”

The biggest gripe is that the show depicts Pakistan as undemocratic and allied with terrorists.

“Repeated insinuations that an intelligence agency of Pakistan is complicit in protecting the terrorists at the expense of innocent Pakistani civilians is not only absurd but also an insult to the ultimate sacrifices of the thousands of Pakistani security personnel in the war against terrorism,” a source said.

“Our culture embraces Western society. Pakistan believes in the democratic system of voting in our presidents.”

“Pakistanis never embraced the dictators who, in the past, ruled the country because they took over the presidency through violent means.

“ ‘Homeland’ makes it seem that Pakistan has contempt for Americans and its values and principles. That is not true.”

Season Four wrapped up its final episode last Sunday.

The show’s publicist referred The Post to Showtime representatives, who did not respond to requests for comment.

Hotiana said he just wished the producers had spent more time getting their facts straight.

“A little research would have gone a long way,” he said.

So here is how it goes:

Country to be maligned: Pakistan
Author: Israeli
Cast: Mostly Indians
Content: Portray Pakistan as an ugly, ignorant, terror shyt hole (line mostly taken from Kaplan dude)

Now replace Pakistan with Israel and the following:

Author: Iranian
Cast: Mostly Lebanese Syrians
Content: Portray Isarel as ugly, ignorant, baby killer last shyt hole on the planet

and

get prime time to air it.

Oh well, I would really like to see how our Jewish friends would reacht to that.

Right. Aside from the blatant and disgusting Islamophobia that show depicts, aside from the obvious attempts to make Pakistan look like a hell hole, as though America's endless war hasn't already done a bang up job of that already...

Aside from the actual offensive content of the show, the acting is rubbish, the characters particularly the main character is beta and awful.
The storyline is a joke, with absurd scenarios that make no sense...

I'll also mention that the writing of Carrie and the whole "strong female lead" is pathetic. Personally, I'm not interested in feminist rhetoric. That said, I can appreciate good writing and good acting, that show lacks both.

If you're going to do the whole anti-terrorist gung ho rhetoric thing, 24 was at least watchable, homeland is pathetic.

And if you’re interested in a strong female lead watch la femme Nikita and then tell me what you think about homeland.

Good mentions!

Space battles are awesome in BSG, it's too bad the show was messed up by the writer's strike...

Firefly is a magnificent show. Characters, writing quality, scenario, there's something in it for everyone.

That said, out of all the sci fi shows I've watched including :

Star Trek TNG
Star Trek Voyager
Stargate SG-1
BSG
Firefly

The finest writing and acting were in none of the above, Babylon 5 takes first place in my book. Low budget show that used recycled star trek sets and unknown actors, and it's totally awesome.

It was so influential. Deep space nine was apparently re-worked to be a show about a space station after Babylon 5 aired. The main character of voyager, captain Jainway was modelled after Lt Ivanova from Babylon 5. The entire plot and premise of the popular video game franchise Mass Effect was inspired from the original space opera, B5.

The characterization, the social commentary, the overall feel and vibe... If you enjoyed firefly, don't ask too many questions, watch B5, thank me later.

Actually thank the writers, the entire plot of the show was written before the first episode was even shot, and you can tell, it's an excellent work.

.
It's a damn good show. The screenplay is excellent and literally makes you feel the heat of the situation.

.
So nobody is even going to mention Game of Thrones ? DAMMIT people...GAME OF THRONES!
My Top 10 list:
Game of Thrones
House
Sherlock
Firefly
Doctor Who
Nikita
Person of Interest
Leverage
Black Adder
A Bit of Fry and Laurie
