I like and admire Gandhiji.

No, I don't agree with everything he said or does. He himself would have agreed that he isn't infallible and is prone to similar mistakes as other humans. I admire him for his principles of non violence, leading by example and he is the author of some of the coolest quotes.

Although, I don't hate him, I have mix feelings towards him.

If not for Gandhi, Patel would have been our first PM and Patel would have made sure that the whole of Kashmir would have been India's. No UN resolutions and no Indo-Pak enmity

No, I dont.

If he and Nehru were wise enough India would have remained united.

Partition of India is purely due to Nehru.
Jinnah offered to compromise on everything and he only wanted stronger state powers so that the Muslim provinces would not be overwhelmed by the Hindu state.

Nehru, being the socialist, did not accpet this and stayed stubborn and could not see beyond his socialism.
End result was :pakistan:

Are you crazy man? What would we do with Pakistan except get their share of terrorism on our soil? In partition, while it was sad that we lost lands of Punjab and Sindh and millions of Sikhs, Christians, Jews, Hindus living in those lands were displaced, it was something that had to be done. Sadly the Northwestern (and Eastern) parts of undivided India were hit by a cancer of religious extremism and intolerance. If that cancer was not cut off, it would have spread to the rest of India.

P.S. Love Gandhi :)

I dont like Gandhi, Nehru and Jinnah.

The three people together are responsible for slaughter of millions of hindus and Muslims during partition.

The three big leaders along with desperate Brits have blood on their hands. They together partitioned India sitting in Shimla, Delhi while millions of hindus and muslims perished along the border lines drawn by three leaders.

Right, now only 50% of India is in a state of revolt instead of 80%

And I agree, You guys should first dream of exerting state control on your Maoist states before of even dreaming of a united India.

I admire Gandhi, but do not like him.

He was a supernatural force, somebody who could not be resisted, ruthless when he had to be or wanted to be, strict on personal integrity, harsh with those who did not fall in with his demands, a difficult husband, a bad father, a charming friend to those who mattered, able to smash through the barriers of race and class with his candour, principled to a fault, but adherent only to his own principles, not to those of others, finally, a visionary, who saw into public affairs and into the hearts of men, both of his sort and very different.

How does make me, or anyone else, like him?

His age, his physical frailty (only on the surface) and his dimensions incited a lot of sympathy. Wasted sympathy, because he did what he had to, with little concern for other feelings.

At the end of the day, he was a winner. He won over the British Empire, and it does not matter how many qualifications one places before his feat, it was, and is, still of heroic proportions.

There is much to admire, little to like.

That is why I admire him, but cannot like him.

I like him but i prefer the great Subhas Chandra Bose
one of the renowned political figure of his time...

Gandhi is for indians , what QUAID-e-Azam is for PAKISTAN.
He was a patriot politician who loved his land, he secured the interests of hindus and used peace as a tool to achieve his aims, one who believed in political diplomacy and was opposed to violence ........... indians should love him and we need to respect him as a one of great leader of his time.

yep nehru and sardar patel.....
abdul kalam azad also mentioned about it in his book.....

thats not myth, it s the truth and the proof is that you are not a British subject
Proof? Yup it shows that how much you've been brain washed. Bapu Can't do anything when millions of indians had been massacred by british soldiers. That was the world wars which had weaken the real strength of britishers.

there is nothing wrong in liking him... he was a leader and need to be respected and liked , like JINNAH.......

Jinnah was not the same as Gandhi or Nehru. There were no "securing of Hindu interests" in our history. If anything, the perception of Congress leaders at independence is that they were anti-Hindu (reason why Nathuram Godse was brainwashed to assassinate Gandhi). Jinnah claimed to protect Muslim interests to secure his leadership and legacy, and Nehru claimed to protect secular interests to secure his legacy. The two are not the same.

If you are talking of his larger than life size image, then yes, it is slightly misplaced. But that is true for every "celebrity". At least Gandhi achieved something substantial and is a role model for many world politicians. Give it a 1000 years, and he will be immortalized into a Prophet or saint like the others.
