Do you have Best Friends?

Ten years ago, I was in a bit of financial jam, a very close boyhood Pakistani friend of mine hid a package of $30,000 under the the newspaper on the table before he left. Would you consider him as a close friend?

In NY, everyone uses English unless within you family and close relatives. BTW my friend is newly wed and his wife is a Chinese.

Pakistanis are overall large hearted when it comes to friends.

No I don't have any Chinese friends, but I was friends with a Korean guy who served in the ROK army before coming here, but I've lost basis with him. Pretty cool laid back guy. Hopefully, I'll run into him again...

What should be criteria for being best friends?

"A friend in need is a friend indeed"

But some time if your friend is not able to help you than never be rude..

But make sure he or she is your true friend

Your rant thread have some basic flaws

1. Good Friend/Best Friend definition varies from person to person. For some people good friend is the who can lend you money whenever you need, for some good friend must be with them if they have fight, for some good friend is the one who come and join in their evening drink etc.

2. Language is medium of communication, not medium of friendship. I have few good arab and persian friends neither i know their language nor they understand urdu

3. Nation level friendship doesn't mean that every person must have good friend from other nation or If persons of two nation have friends in each other will lead to national friendship. I.e. Many Pakistani have good Indian friends and many Indians have good Pakistani friends, even they have relatives in each others' country but still at national level they are enemies. India is good friend or russia and isreal tell me %age of indian who have best Israeli and Russian friends and can talk to them in Hebrew, Russian or Hindi.

Sorry, I had very busy long today.

I have been tried to keep in touch with Chinese, it is still very difficult since different cultures, body languages, grossy seafoods, and mindsets. We didn't have much common or anything to discuss.

Zakii, I read your message this morning before recent delete. It is good to keep in touch with him, hopefully long-term.


Pakistan-China is just business usual, not really definition of deep friendships.

You talk about party club, not all people have to do drinking or borrow money. If not evening drinking, what else common for both Pakistani and Chinese? video games? Disney world? Whenever I discussed serious world politics, they talked about Mickey Mouse, travels, favorite restaurants, and worshipping fancy NYC.

India didn't say deep friendship higher than mountain with Russian, Israeli and Americans. If you meet Chinese friend, you will understand more, it is hard to understand their accents.

Aside from NYC in recent years and along the border in Karakorum Highway there are not many place where Pakistani and Chinese meet and socialize together. To build a good friendship time spend together is essential.

Our respective governments have increase the frequency of dealing with each other recent years in trades and business exchanges. The next step should be more culture and student exchanges.

I like the the idea that the Khunjerab Pass as our gateway of friendship and hope the expansion of the Karakorum High will bring more people travel through in both directions.

Most of my friends are white, with some hispanics in the mix. This is mainly due to the mix of people in my area. When I lived in L.A., also had some Egyptian, Palestianian, Irianian, Thia, etc. In large cities it is easier to have a more eclectic selection of friends.
