There were no proper census in Bengal over religious lines until the British arrived. And the first such census in the 19th century revealed Muslims were the majority in entire Bengal. It is very much plausible that Muslims were already dominating the demographics, at least in East Bengal, during Bengal Sultanate and Mughal period.

Neither Hinduism nor Islam wiped out Buddhism completely. Buddhism got wiped out due to multiple reasons not only due to hindus and muslims.

- Due to lack of state patronization, after the Kushan empire, Buddhism became weaker because there were no more powerful Buddhist kingdoms who could fund temples and monks.

Also let me tell you that most of the Buddhist temples in Afghanistan and Pakistan are from the Kushan era, some 2000 years ago, which might indicate that Buddhism already declined after the Kushans.

Moreover when talking about Buddhist history in Afghanistan no one talks about the Sassanid empire. The Sassanid empire controlled half of Afghanistan which also increased the presence of Zoroastrians in Afghanistan.
