That is just 9 decades ago in 1925 and didn't reach Europe until 1930s and it was invented 1890s which means it was 130 years ago. I feel like At the speed things have gone is mindblowing. This reminds me about a quote Lenin said before. “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”

But it deserves a twist to get our current context right and to understand the speed of this century. ''There are millenniums where nothing happens: and there are decades where millenniums happen''

Fast Fact:
The US actually had networks of Natural gas lines crisscrossing the country decades BEFORE electrical wiring was done.

It was used for hand lit natural gas light fixtures in homes (~1880's) replacing candles. Which was then replaced with lightbulbs in the 1920's.
pre-1920's Natural gas light fixtures in a home

When electrical lines became common the long established large gas main network came in very handy as electrical devices started exploiting it for consumer products

Electrically operated Natural gas furnace

Electrically operated Natural gas hot water tank

Electrically operated Natural gas clothes dryer

Electrically operated Natural gas range/oven

Emergency Natural gas backup generators
