In the movies, aliens usually attack USA. Why rescue them?

I was thinking about becoming a pilot for USAF, but I'd rather not fly for them for obvious reasons. Im currently in college.. and thinking about Ballistic Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, and something in medical field
