I meant in fighters. AWACS would generally be kept far away from hostile areas.i think in SAAB Erieye maybe?
well the pic he posted was also of a C 130 i think, i doubt any normal 4th Gen fighter would have itI meant in fighters. AWACS would generally be kept far away from hostile areas.
The ground attack ones would be most venerable to MANPADs. A transport/AWAC would generally fly in safer areas. Is what I think.well the pic he posted was also of a C 130 i think, i doubt any normal 4th Gen fighter would have it
India to get smartest cluster bombThe other hunter killer that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is acquiring is CBU-105, considered the world's smartest cluster bomb. There has been tremendous opposition to it because of the collateral damage cluster bombs are known to cause. But sources toldHeadlines Today that this bomb is really smart - if a CBU-105 fails to locate its target, it self destructs.
Consider this - a column of Pakistani tanks rumble towards the Indian border, ready to blast their way into the country. The Indian border defences watch in horror as the Pakistani tanks approach. Then B-52 aircraft flies in and drops a CBU-105 bomb. A single bomb releases several small bomblets which identify their individual targets destroying them almost simultaneously.
The air force's most intelligent tank-killing weapon disintegrates freeing bombs from the main CBU-105 unit. Each bomblet, fitted with geared with a laser sensor, is a tiny little hunter-killer in its own right. Once the tank target is acquired, the fireworks begin. A tiny copper warhead is blasted with explosive energy downward. The tank doesn't even know what has hit it.
The IAF will be the first foreign user of the American cluster bomb, the world's most blisteringly intelligent anti-tank weapon. It is called the bomb with brains and has been used only once in anger before.

@Oscar
That brings me back to original question, as I think a fighter would not release this amount of flares. Are the fighters in the subcontinent well equipped against modern manpads?That example was to demonstrate the amount of flares that are now increasingly needed to evade newer and newer IR threats.

yes

@Oscar
these ANZA finds in the middle east can SO much screw us. its just a matter of time one one these Haji's uses them to down a commercial airliner and leaves the launcher with markings and name for a convenient find and a top breaking story for CNN, BBC, Fox, Al Jazera English etc.
Effectively no CM available in our part? I am talking about CAS. Or am I mistaken? I thought they would fly close to ground for air support. I honestly am uninformed with both the roles of planes in CAS and manpads.yes

The idea was even more audacious than you think. The idea was to take siachen by making resupply difficult through the road, after sufficient weakening attack siachen. This was in Musharraf's book review.The Idea of Pakistani Generals (Musharraf) was great, we did reach our goal to capture all the heights, to cut the indian supplys, and that with a combination of Paramilitary Forces-NLI, Mujahid-voulanters-Forces. We failed in the military logistics, to maintenance the conquered indian posts, evacuation of injured personall, and disposition of materiel, construction of heavy all weather Bunkers.
And now imagne if the full Pakistani military would have been involved. And everything would have been planed from HQ level down to the single NLI Soldier, regarding equipment and training. Kargil would have been delcared as a disaster for India, but so the military history for the Pakistan and India resulted in a draw or ended in a tie (Victory can be claimed, but I dont see any for both sides, I hope its Ok for the Indian readers here
for Halal dollars we will give away anything. swab will be just an added bonus.Not much that can be done other than granting a End user certificate.
Considering the rate at which the nutcases are getting smarter.. you might find the next news being that of a Mushaq being rigged with explosives and flown into a building.
