Perhaps they died of cancer...who knows...cancer diagnosis was not possible in the past and mostly people thought it was some influence by spirits and ghosts. If too much sun exposure caused skin cancer then all our ancestors would have died of skin cancer.
Btw i had added this part to my previous post which you might have missed -
"Yes ,they started covering their bare chest before Islam arrived. The rich and influential always wore a long cloth over their upper body, may because they could afford it. While the poorer people wore scantier clothes."
But the Godesses are often portrayed with scanty dresses so did they belong to the poor or the rich class or they had separate rules to follow?
I want also to quantify how Islam and Muslim rule affected the local culture and traditions with respect to dressing, food, architecture, living etc and how the trends changed under colonial rule and after the independence.
Okay thanks but does the traditional dress for men means saree too? There are certain ocasions where everyone wears traditional clothes marriages being one such occasion. Down south it is compulsory among men and women to wear traditional clothes to enter certain temples.
In northern India, specially the villages you will see men and women wearing traditional dresses.
