DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor's Heart Warming Speech

.
An extraordinary meeting

This is the first time in six years that the military leadership has come to the Parliament House to brief lawmakers on the security situation.

Last time it was in May 2011 when then army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and then ISI chief Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha had briefed a joint session of parliament about the Abbottabad operation in which Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden had been killed by US forces.

Earlier, in May 2009, then DGMO Maj Gen Javed Iqbal had briefed a joint sitting of parliament about the country's security situation and the military operation in Swat.

The COAS and DGMO will give a “briefing on the emerging national security paradigm for Pakistan with respect to recent visits/developments”.

The decision to brief senators was taken voluntarily by the military leadership after seeing media reports about criticism in the Senate of the federal government and the military for not taking the parliament into confidence over recent security developments. The developments in question include the change in Washington’s policy towards Islamabad following controversial remarks by US President Donald Trump about the role of Pakistan in the war on terror, border clashes with Afghan forces and Pakistan’s role in a military alliance under Saudi Arabia.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa have assured JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to redress his reservations over FATA reforms, Geo News reported citing the sources.

Fazl held a meeting with Army Chief and PM Abbasi here Tuesday, where he expressed his reservations over FATA reforms. The meeting continued for more than one and a half hour and was attended by DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor.

In the meeting, PM Abbasi, General Bajwa and JUI-F leader discussed issues pertaining to Federally Administered Tribal Areas, sources said.

Later, Maulana Fazl said consultations with civil leadership will continue on issues related to FATA, however, there is no need to hold further meetings with military leaders.

the visit was to the senate
the Nawaz league senators repeatedly asked COAS about the Saudi coalition and our national / foreign policy I dont know if they were satisfied with the answers or not , it is understandably that entire Nawaz league and its ministers are busy defending Nawaz sherif and cursing the judiciary so there is no time to ask the foreign minster or interior minister or even the PM about the same questions

It is Good, but lets hope it has nothing to do with recent drone attack and other developments. If any relation, then things getting serious.

Loser, Shut him up and if he does not stop send him to Afghanistan.
main looser is Achakzai, his entire existence depends on anti Pakistan stae narrative and about the mistreatment of tribal areas by the state. if FATA merges with the province and becomes part of the settled areas then he will have a political death and this is why he will do all he can to prevent it
as for Molana sahib he has personal grudge against Imran and PTI is part of the KPK govt and he fears that PTI wll drive political benefit from it

Merging FATA with KPK should be the top priority of the government and it should also be part of national action plan.
All of these small obstacles (diesal and co) will soon disappear... with or without Imran Khan, Riasat is auto correcting itself.

I blame Mushrraf for majority of this mess, He should have never offered NRO to the corrupt politicians.

I am not a big fan of Imran Khan because he is very reactant about decentralized of Power, creating more provinces, making FBR and NAB more powerful.

Here are few suggestions:
1) All Maddaris should be registered with government, process can be negotiated/reviewed with ulema.

2) Every single working Pakistani should be under the TAXNET including Arm forces (Army, Airforce,Navy, Coast guard). Also, all Businesses, big or small, should be registered with Provincial and federal government..they should be filling TAX every year.

3) We need a strong foreign policy. My suggestion is to create "The Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS)", a research institute affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It can be dedicated to developing mid- to long-term foreign policy visions through participation in academic exchanges, public diplomacy, training and researches, and the production of publications.

Apparently COAS named Nawaz in the hearing saying that the Foreign Minister post was taken by Nawaz and that had a huge impact on Pakistan. He also said that the Foreign ministers travel 3 days a week meeting senior people around the world.

Also that 'interior ministry is being fixed'.

And made it clear that the void in ministries will be filled and incompetencies fixed if no one else is doing so.
