Detained (Pakistani) man pleads: 'I'm not a threat to Australia'

Will you call Baghat singh a terrorist if you are living in Britain because for British he was terrorist ..

Will irish will be arrested if he consider IRA as freedom fighter in stead of terrorist

as far Kashmir even UN consider it disputed

I was just giving an example.

And no I wouldn't call Bhagat Singh a terrorist when I am in England, but then again how many terrorist attacks have been done by the supporters of Bhagat Singh?

There is obviously a case of profiling as well, given the recent history, not denying that. Muslims and specially Pakistanis are seen with more suspicion.

My previous posts should clearly explain what that "some" is.

yes talking about event of NATO attack on phone and considering Afia Siddiqi innocent ?

are they joking?

Give it some time. I would not be surprised if 10 - 15 years from now if the geopolitical situation of the world remains the same, some western rebellious teenagers will start wearing Bin Laden T-Shirts like they wear Che Guevara T-Shirts. Che Guevara was a wanted man too

Exactly...But i fail to understand that how a facebook comment or comments and a phone call about a Current affair can be deemed as a threat to country and somebody jailed for that..Thats just ridiculous...
Every nation has the right to defend themselves if they feel threatened

people/nations make cloudy judgements when they feel threatened. I feel sorry for the guy safriz.

Hey He! Australia is not the country of these Gora pplz . They need to go back to Europe ,where they came from.. It belongs to Aborgese pplz living there. They came over unlawfully to this continent and killed these native pplz mercilessly. They have no right to detain any innocent Pakistani guy who never did anything wrong except to help finance his studies........:smokin:

Still does belong to aboriginal people and every1 else who lives here and was BORN here and you dont no if he was innocent or are you just saying so because hes pakistani?

Roy what does vid say?

But organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba are banned (even in Pakistan), still LeT operates using JuD as a cover in Pakistan.

Australian National Security - Lashkar-e-Tayyiba
The Tribune, Chandigarh, India - World
BBC News - Profile: Lashkar-e-Taiba
EUR-Lex - 32003D0902 - EN

If they are banned, the following may be OK in Pakistan

but you'll be in trouble everywhere else!

Roybot i don't mind his arrest if he was threat to Australia ..but the reasons they telling us are not enough to make him criminal or terrorist .. If giving opinion about NATO attack or Afia siddiqi or war on terror is crime then i am sure more than half Muslims will be deported from western countries including myself because i openly talk about war crimes of bush and Blair.

Yes true, thats why I said, I hope he is just a internet warrior and nothing more.

But then again police and probably ASIO had more reasons to detain him, reasons they won't make public.

I think one should limit visiting his FB profile.. Who knows it may be under watch too?

I hope that's the case. Remember the Muhamed Haneef - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia case?

It was a nightmare diplomatic standoff between India and Australia. The matter went on upto the level of Prime Minister of India and the relations of India and Australia soured.

Eventually, he was proven innocent and agreed to receive compensation and public apology by the Australian government in lieu of the wrongful detention he had to go through.

Well then we are on the same page that means...
In late 90s a friend of mine was arrested on Arrival at a US airport, and kept into custody for a day and thoroughly quizzed and all his biodata checked by their security agencies..
Reason was later discovered to be an innocent fax he sent tto another friend in central America..Panama to be precise..
In that fax he mentioned A verse of Quran in which there is a word "Samad"..Now somehow it was mis spelled and was written as "Osamad"..
The fax was routed through a US station and their computers picked up the word "Osamad" as "Osama"...and the poor guy got into trouble for this and deported after interrogation...He was on a business trip, and the paranoia of US authorities cost him dearly as he missed out on a fairly large contract because he just couldn't meet the clients in USA....He wasn't allowed out of the airport only because he mistakenly written "Osamadan" in a fax..and no amount of explanation satisfied the American Interrogators...
The Muslim world is full of similar stories, with people being treated like criminals for nothing....Then they say why there is Anti-US sentiments in Pakistan

But the funny point is - its the rest of the world (including the Muslims and Pakistanis) who wants to settle in the US or UK or do business there because of the egalitarian societies they have made. Its their house, so its there wish who enters and who doesn't. They might have done mistakes in judging people but all in all lets face it, they are more fair to the rest of us.

I've heard in the middle east you can't become the citizen even if you work for decades or own a business in your name. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Anti-US sentiment in Pakistan is a fabrication, most of Pakistanis would accept US citizenship without blinking if they were offered.

Anti-US sentiment in Pakistan is a fabrication,

Even many American Pakistanis on this forum severely disagree with US policies

Even after pledging allegiance to the star spangled banner many will be considered as outsiders by the main stream media
