Detained (Pakistani) man pleads: 'I'm not a threat to Australia'

Well this guy was arrested for his likes/dislikes on Facebook

Like Facebook founder Zuckerberg said people will one day regret their actions online. This is an excellent example of that

The Department of Immigration declined to say why Mr Ghumman's visa had been cancelled, but said he was now in the country unlawfully.

"The person no longer met the legal criteria to hold a visa, therefore the visa was cancelled making him an unlawful non-citizen and subject to detention," a spokeswoman said.

This sum up all lol

Well, I think the point I was making is you can show as much support for the Kashmiri insurgency or the Taliban movement when you're in Pakistan. But as and when you step out,

Lashkar-e-Taiba
Jaish-e-Mohammed
Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami

are banned terrorists outfits!

Same goes for the Afghan war!

Any ordinary person supporting these outfits is not even safe in Pakistan. You never know who might knock on your door in the middle of the night

Go read the news again please

about phone calls made to Pakistan, NATO attacks, his movements and why he was in the country.

But the 23-year-old denied he was an extremist and said he was not a threat.

"I've got a beard. I can't think of any other reason (my visa was cancelled)," he said.

"I've got no future. I'm not a threat to this country."

Mr Ghumman's Facebook site links to a group backing terrorist Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani doctor with extensive terror links jailed for 86 years in 2010.

Many young teenagers and young from Pakistan look like extremists, growing beard, which is serious problems. Here, I have seen same things with stupid long Arab dress and caps.

so talking about NATO attack on phone is against the safety of Australian or Its terrorism to speak against NATO attack which was illegal and kill innocent soldiers back home. We know even NATO and USA admit their mistakes

why did you bring Kashmir here and Pakistani soldiers were not talibans and also read what i quoted the statement of Australian immigration about his detention

Freedom of free speech is no more reality and no you are no more free in a western country if you are a Muslim of Pakistani origin..Your phones are being listened and recorded, and so are your internet activities...
If you fall in the above category, never say anything against the west in your phone calls, even if you are joking and keep you facebook page as much private as possible...Better still...dont bother and close your account on social networking sites.
THis poor chap has been Jailed because he may have joked about NATO on phone with someone in Pakistan..Although NATIO wer the kiilers and none of Pakistanis...And he may have posted some anti western material on Facebook..

Freedom of Speech?.My Arse.....Then they say North Korea is bad..

Well, I've no particular love for them but they don't scare me! :)

That is how media brain washing works. Every Muslims with a beard is now a terrorist to the average Joe.

How many terrorists convicted were captured sporting a full flowing 'scary' beard ?

His fb profile is public, am not going to post it here but for those who care can look him up.

He "likes" Pakistan Cyber Army and has posted some interesting videos on his wall. Feel sorry for the guy though, for his sake I hope he was just an internet warrior and nothing more, at least he ll be able to return to Pakistan safely.

Remember Difa-e-Pakistan Conference in Lahore?

difa-e-pakistan1.jpg

Every nation has the right to defend themselves if they feel threatened..and there is no other nation on the planet which is more threatened than Pakistan...The people of Pakistan have every right to show solidarity against internal and external threats....Nobody should have problem with that..

I meant individually

Go ahead try arresting even one person in that crowd. Every sane intelligence person knows you don't mess with a swarm

Let me clarify what I meant

The person no longer met the legal criteria to hold a visa, therefore the visa was cancelled making him an unlawful non-citizen and subject to detention

He wasn't DECLINED a visa as you said
according to immigration official, he was deciline visa because he did not satisfy the legal criteria.

Now, according to story these are the reasons law enforcement think that he no longer meets the legal criterion

he was quizzed by authorities about phone calls made to Pakistan, NATO attacks, his movements and why he was in the country.
