JuD sends out message on Twitter, says it can collect funds as it is not a banned organisation.

LAHORE: Despite a worldwide ban, the Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) has sent out messages on Twitter and Facebook asking Muslims across the world to donate zakat and fitra during Ramazan.
JuD, through its official Twitter account, not only appealed for donations for itself but also for Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation, an organisation of JuD formed in the aftermath of the UNSC sanctions. JuD, which is allegedly the charitable front and the political arm of al Qaeda-linked Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), had earlier disowned Falah-i-Insaniyat.
JuD’s message on Twitter, which had a link to Facebook as well, called people to donate zakat in any form either by cash, by donating an ambulance or by sponsoring medicines or meals for Sehr and Iftar.
When Senior Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik was recently asked about the collection of funds during Ramazan, he had categorically denied that any unregistered organisation was involved in such activities. He had also vowed to take action against such organisations involved in collecting funds.
It remains unclear whether the JuD is registered to collect funds within the country or not.
JuD, when contacted by The Express Tribune, said that since the organisation was not banned in Pakistan, it could collect funds. “Everyone knows that when the UNSC placed sanctions on Jamaatud Dawa, we went to the court against the ban and the Lahore High Court had decreed in our favour, categorically saying that the JuD is not a banned organisation,” said Khalid Waleed, the chief coordinator of JuD’s political cell headed by Abdur Rehman Makki.
Makki was recently placed on the US State Department’s Reward for Justice Programme list which offers $500,000 for evidence leading to his role in Mumbai 2008 attacks. JuD chief Hafiz Saeed is in the category of $1 million reward.
He, however, could not explain why the JuD is also collecting funds in the name of Falah-i-Insaniyat. “They are just two different heads of the same account. If someone wants to donate to JuD or Falah, we welcome it,” he said.
On Twitter, JuD has 2,188 followers and the profile says that the aims of the organisation include spreading knowledge, practicing dawah (spreading the message of Islam) and jihad.

The Money which JDU Is Collecting from Muslim Brothers In The Holy Month will be used to Kill Other Muslim Brothers in Pakistan. I Forgot They also love us.

This should be banned entirely. None of these radical lunatics should be allowed to operate. They've become a significantly bigger danger to Pakistan itself before anyone else.

On a separate note, how come BJP and Shivsena etc are banned in India? They've killed and burned a lot of people, in fact villages of people both Christians and Muslims. I posted some pics on a different thread. But these fundamental Hindus are just as bad as their distant cousins in Talibans. I think someone should take it to the UN and get all these fundamental crazy sects locked up.

BJP AND SHIV SENA ARE POLITICAL PARTIES AND COSEN BY PEOPLE UNIKE JUD .THEY NEVER GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY AND EXPLODE HIMSELF NAME OF RELIGION .(USE UR ORIGNAL FLAG)

out of millions of internet users from Pakistan - only 2200 followers of Jud?

Out of which may be one or two may have considered donations too. This newspaper has indirectly promoted their twitter account and some people may follow their page to troll.

Anyway, officially, Pakistan does not consider JUD as a terrorist organisation so asking Pakistanis on twitter isn't that big of an issue?

It is very shameful that pakistan is not hanging a known international terrorists and killer of innocent people. Who is a declared terrorist even by the UN.

And this bastard is exploiting religious sentiments in holy month of Muslims, to earn some money haf goes to terrorism other half to his pocket.

A terrorist who fought his cases in the courts of the country and always acquitted from charges. A terrorist who has always been encouraging Indian government to take him to the International Court for Justice and prove in him guilty but all Indian government has managed to do so far is, accuse him and not able to collect any evidence against him

They were here in our Masjid today for Friday prayers... and people donated huge amounts. Who gives a hoot about UN or Indian ranting about JuD.

BTW, JuD is not banned in Pakistan take your whining elsewhere Indians.

India is having a JUD phobia and it is falling more to this disease. JUD runs thousands of medical facilities, schools and welfare centres for the support of the ones who need them the most. There is no harm in asking money for these services.

In Pakistan Jamat-e-Islami and Edhi Foundation are the most active welfare organizations. One needs to visit Pakistan to see their huge contribution to humanity. Why doesn't any Indian Delegation visit Pakistan to checkout what JUD is doing and where do they spend this money after collecting?

If you talk about supporting Kashmir, then it is state of Pakistan's Open Policy that Pakistan supports Kashmir and its Liberation. If collecting funds hurts India, it should also shout when GOP collects tax from its countrymen.

Sir, they are making Talibanization society in the name of welfare and from people's money.
This is banned organization. uneducated and most evil people.

its not the way to ban an organization...they have to charge/arrest them too..because i'm pretty much sure, when they'll face heat, they simply open another "Charitable" organization...just like what they did when LET faced global heat..

if it's used for charity/zakat/alms giving, best of luck to them......they're surprisingly organized, from what i've read they do manage to secure huge funding from overseas and locally

terrorists being funded for terror by religion of peace.. good going.. yay for you

only 2200 because the millions did not have power to start their PCs

exonerated by the Lahore High Court on two occasions -- including when Pakistan unlawfully detained him purely b/c of ''suspicion''

in any court of law, suspicion alone does not constitute a crime or tort. Maybe in hindustan they do things much differently, but in our courts EVIDENCE is required...and while indians love to milk on 26/11 while rest of the world has moved on, it wont change the fact that we will not unlawfully detain a Pakistani citizen.

p.s. twitter is available on mobile as well; Pakistanis are well connected. 2200 followers out of a densely connected nation of almost 200m is pretty peanuts to me

We'd never agree on the definition of 'Terrorist'... the one we call freedom fighters are your terrorists and vice versa... so just leave it to that.

JuD and other Islamic welfare organizations just like Abu pointed out are doing great for the people of Pakistan - they've done tremendous humanity work during floods and earthquake where the Govt. failed to provide the needs, and that's what matters at the end of the day and that's being the reason why people donate them in huge amounts.

About the power and PCs didn't start, you're just being plain stupid here... people are using mobile Twitter and Facebook in great number here in Pakistan and we don't have power outage for 24-hours... it's merely 6 - 10 hours the max.

Discussing these things with Indians is like banging your head with the wall.

Peace.
