Wrong. North Korea capabilities are at best scud missiles, and their range of damage is mostly short range. Even if their capabilities increase to long-range, there is no reason to believe they can maneuver their missiles to avoid interception. THAAD is to target China/Russia. Our American friends wouldn't be happy if China/Russia deploy missile defense near their border. For us to respect, others have to respect our security concern.

Thanks to kim. As I said Kim dynasty is the best thing that the U S could ever asked for. The UNS should be paying and. Thanking Russia and China for keeping the regime. Especially Soviet Russia, Since it was them.that created N. KOREA in the first place after the Soviet/U.S division of Korea post WWII, and subsequent Soviet funding/arming of Chinese and Kim regime during korean war. Even if its unguided rocket it will still cause unacceptable loss of life and property. North Korea is a bull which needs to be tackle head-on as they don't understand diplomatic answers and take it as a weakness of South Koreans. SZzk not only needs to implement long range THAAD but small range anti missiles as well. Now their life is on the line. No they aren't going to depend on North Korea's good will. Now they won't depend on China's for that matter.

As for arm-twisting, don't make me laugh. South Korea had all the justification it needed, and existential threats like North Korea makes to South Korea weigh above economic concerns. North Korea took it too far and China was too indecisive (or just plain not on their side) for too long.

They'd rather have a defence against North Korea and be on China's shit list because China has far more to lose, and so will act more rationally than North Korea.

CCTV just now said that S.Korea made itself a target for future nuclear attack. It is a rather stern warning since China and S.Korea are on very friendly terms by and large.

This development can backfire too in future, China can use ELINT/SIGINT to develop counter measures like advance ARM version of YJ-12 etc.

That's how the game is played. China develops counter measures and the US develops counter measures to those counter measures (or develops a new technology that renders those counter measures irrelevant) and the process starts anew. A set of 'eyes' inside mainland China is very valuable regardless.

China and Russia still can counter this move alone by themselves but thay have to work together, HQ-19 S-500 may come online earlier then expected and also SIGINT/ELINT will be boosted, China have plenty systems which could overwhelm and take out THAAD deployed in SK but they will love to have SIGINT/ELINT which will be extremely valuable.

Then they shouldn't complain about the radar there. I mean there is one deployed already in Japan.

SK fell for the ruse. OR maybe they have no choice. They are a vassal of the US and for the foreseeable future will listen to the US regardless of the depth of economic ties with China.
