This was the last batch, delivery started in 2011.

For this part, I think what we have of fighter jets are enough and logical to defend our air space along with land-air defense systems considering the limited capability of our economy to afford buying enough numbers of 4++ jets. However, I expect major airforce contracts after Jordan starts producing oil shale after 2017 in few years.

No Sir they are not even close to be enough you have not much of F-16 and other Planes are too old and not very advanced you need have at least 100 F-16 and 100 some other Plane of the level of F-16

For the first part, why would we alter our limited economy on matching Israel in air force which will never happen with this economy, hell, even KSA with it's huge economy and strong air force has started lately to match Israel. As I said, I think Jordanian air force and air defense together are enough to deter any aggressor. Not to mention that GCC and Egypt air forces will make that up.

I would think that Jordan should buy more used F-16s get them MLUed & retire the current crop of Mirrages & F-5s ! Around a 100 or so MLUed F-16s which are comparable to F-16 Block 52s in quite a few ways would be nice.

And wait for a 5th Generation platform to come along & mature enough to be inducted.

But on the Air-Defense thing, baring the Patriots, the rest doesn't look to great !

I'd think it would be better to buy a SPADA 2000 like medium range SAM system along with keeping the Patriots & perhaps even look into some Chinese SAM systems that are coming along reasonably nicely.

If I were Jordan & were in possession of some cash to spare I'd look at what Turkey is developing & achieving quite closely & perhaps even do a JV or two with them on a project of my choosing !
